Wiin 970 progressive rock and wxap 860 country

Hey Guys:

Would anybody know the date in 1973 that WIIN went from Top 40 to Progressive Rock? I was doing some research in the Broadcasting Magazines and the last date I have for WIIN being Top 40 was Oct 1973.

Also would anybody know the date in 1978 that WXAP went from R&B/Gospel to there short time country format? Note WXAP went to WAEC On Dec 3, 1978.

Thanks for your help

T.J.

P.S.: I am just about done with the history of 94.1 FM so I will post my Entire History of the 94.1 frequency in the next couple of days.

Will your history of 94.1 include the WGST-FM days? Wasn't 94.1 authorized at one point in the early days of FM to broadcast at 300kW?

According to Broadcasting, 94.1 started October, 1947.
1947-1949: WGST (Atlanta)/345kw
1950: WGST/340kw
1951-1952: WGST/68kw
1953: WGST/78kw
1954: WGST/68kw
1955-1963: off air*
1964 (1/1/64): WDJK (Smyrna)/100kw/ant.ht.200'
1965-1965: WKXI
1967-1977: WQXI/ant.ht.410'
1978-1982: WQXI/70kw/ant.ht.890'
1983-1984: WQXI/100kw/ant.ht.914'
1985-1988: WQXI/ant.ht.910'
1989-2004: WSTR
2005-present: WSTR/ant.ht.1018'

*WQXI had a CP for 94.1 in 1958. WDJK had a CP for 94.1 in 1960-1963.

When 94.1 signed on in 1964, it was on the top of its sister station WSMA/WYNX AM/1550's tower out in the country in East Cobb before East Cobb exploded into subdivisions.

I'm assuming WGST-FM was owned by Georgia Tech, just like the AM.

Interesting that these heights vary from year to year....WSTR has been on New Street way before 2005, previous to that they shared an antenna with WZGC on the roof of the Westin Peachtree Plaza. I Think that site was built in the late 70's maybe early 80s. So some of these Broadcasting Yearbook entries may be questionable. I dont think they did that much site hopping, but I could be wrong.
