Another Clear Channel VP Leaves WLW

The restructuring continues at Clear Channel. I guess no one is running things locally.

From John Kiesewetter.

So who’s running WLW-AM and WEBN-FM? That’s the question at Clear Channel in Kenwood today, with the promotion late Friday of market operations manager Chris Williams to Clear Channel senior vice president for iHeart Radio programming.

Since September last year, Williams was operations manager over all the Cincinnati stations: WLW-AM; WEBN-FM; WKFS-FM/KISS 107; WKRC-AM; WCKY-AM; WSAI-AM and Project 100.7/106.3). He also was program director for WEBN-FM and Project 100.7/106.3; a Clear Channel Communications vice president for programming; and Clear Channel Communications’ active rock brand coordinator.

Promotions at CC means you're another dead man walking. You get fired in a few years when they eliminate your position. Let the countdown begin.

Yeah, it is your opportunity to say "i used to be a ____________ for Clear Channel". Sure, you and a few thousand others.

I personally can't wait for the day Clear Channel goes belly up and the radio industry is de-corporatized. Radio was so much more interesting back in the day when mom and pop outfits like Great Trails Broadcasting were around.

I know people have always bytched about radio, but I am not one of those haters. I was one of those aficionados who used to sit in my bedroom with my radio pulling in distant signals because of the fascinating voices you could hear.

Nowadays? What's the point? Coast to Coast everywhere, and it sounds a lot crappier with static than it does on the local station. Imaging? Sounds the same everywhere ... where is the next Brian James or Ernie Anderson? Music? Sounds canned when it comes off the server.
