Clear Channel To Spread KIIS Brand Down Under

http://radioinsight.com/blog/headli...lear-channel-to-spread-kiis-brand-down-under/

Clear Channel's Australian branch wants to bring the KIIS-FM brand to Australia. Currently the stations are known under the Mix brand and they simulcast KIIS-Fm Los Angeles show On-Air With Ryan Seacrest on their affiliates.

I think you mean the "Kiss-FM brand." K-I-I-S in LA is the only KIIS-FM. There are Kiss-FMs all over the country and the vast majority are owned by Clear Channel. I assume the others were grandfathered because they were using the brand before Clear Channel bought KIIS.

At least Australia and the US share the English language. There is a national hit-music radio station in France called "Kiss-FM," and they announce it in English, though everything else is in French. You'd think it would be "Bisou-FM."

Insert "french kiss" joke here.

There is also a "Kiss" in Caracas, Venezuela... spelled phonetically in Spanish... at http://www.kysfm.com/newsite/

The word in the industry down here is that it will be KIIS... Rumours have been circulating that it is part of a wider effort to to snap up top talent from Austereo, Kyle Sandilands and Jackie O (Henderson), who have not been resigned for next year.http://www.radiotoday.com.au/articles/brad-march/3703-the-latest-on-kyle-and-jackie-o-for-2014.html

ARN see the rebranding and format change as a way to take on Austereo and DMG. My issue here is, if this happens, there will be three stations in the CHR space, and I don't think there is enough to go around. Ryan Seacrest is currently on ARN's MIX stream, at night. Personally, I think he deserves a higher priority, but Australians being the people they are, might not take to him too well in a prime daypart.

It is somewhat amazing that there is anything about the Kiss-FM "brand" which hasn't already been "spread".

Here is a Kiss-FM in Barcelona- http://www.kissfm.es/.

Here is another one in Guatemala City- http://kissfm.emisorasunidas.com/.

I find others in countries such as Poland, Liberia, Kenya and Nigeria, to name but a few. Surprisingly, Australia must be one of the few countries where it is still considered to be a new brand.
