It might be time for the head honchos at Clear Channel to re-evaluate their choice for "King Of Ohio". The most recent numbers, show WKDD in the worst ranking in years. If you also look at the cluster share for Akron it's at an all time low, not to mention a 27 to 9 slide for the Canton cluster. Time's up Darryl.

How does Keith Kennedy still have a gig?

I've always wondered why CC wants to own WKDD, WHOF, WRQK, WHLO, WARF.
But, if I'm counting correctly, a total of 5 full time on-air people (live/local) for all 5 stations. And, they have one sales staff. So, their overhead is minimal. Typical CC.
So, maybe they make money in an area with a TON of competition...mainly because their fixed costs are pretty low.
Make sense?
What so many radio fans in 2013 (those that still exist...LOL) don't seem to understand is, the radio industry is about 99% about making money/profit. You don't have to be #1 or even sound great to make money. The owners only concern is profit -vs- cost of operation. Not having a great-sounding group of stations. They could care less. They realize being #1 comes at a cost (overhead).

I doubt Kennedy will get the boot. He just brought in an APD and new co-host for the morning show for WKDD. The last thing the station needs is more change in the AM.
because Clear Channel does not want to hire someone else to do the job he does is my guess. Why does WKDD need an APD anyway? They have what 3 on air live personalities? What is the point?
One of the live personalities is the APD (Tony McGinty). My guess is to help Keith out with programming.

The little 13 year old KEITH had some big boy dreams way back when....
Kennedy was the little 13year old dude that was called KID when he used to call WSLR as a child and request Hank Jr. And for him to grow up to be a big boy at a big AKRON station is pretty typical AKRON radio. Sort of hard for me to believe, but I certainly believe it. As a 13 year old the little Kennedy Tike dreamed of that fateful day in AKRON and of the on the air bliss he now experiences and of the day HE would be cuing that record - and now as if a promise from heaven it is all a reality. I worked with dude briefly at WQMX back in 1993 and I knew all of that then, but never had the heart to tell him, I really was on the big radio when he was 13 and it was not far from the California coast with all those California Girls which made the SUNSHINE wages much more acceptable. Now THAT for me, was the real dream.
Maybe someone should have said, KID, if you really want to be in the business here in AKRON do it, but there is NO MONEY in it KID...

He is willing to do the work of 5 Program Directors for one salary that is why he is still there.
