¿Están locos?

From time to time the Nurse and I hear commercials in Spanish on English language Clear Channel stations. At first we thought someone wasn't paying attention and loaded the wrong spot on the hard drive. Now, enfermera Jeff and I think it's on purpose as we heard another one this weekend on KNIX. hmmm...are they making a move on Spanish speaking country music fanáticos , or running the risk of confusing their English language listeners?

Mostly that.

Any Hispanics who listen actively to country are not likely to be Spanish speakers.

Or they heard that song about the "señoritas don't care-o when there's no dinero" and decided that Spanish was the new thing in country.

Makes you wonder. Maybe their consultant is José Cuervo.

English language country listeners may already be confused about Spanish...I looked up an on line lyric for Lorrie Morgan's "He Drinks Tequila," and a Spanish line that should have been something like "hold me strongly (tightly?)" got translated instead as "I want to roast your door." (Hey, you haven't had your door roasted until Rosita gets hold of you...)

Is that anything like having your chestnuts roasted on an open fire? I think Professor Davis is correct: "..we'll air any spot for $99.95 at your local Earl Scheib Clear Channel station". ¡Me duelen los huevos asados!

Mr. Wacki remembers Earl Scheib in Orange Ca. charging $19.95.

And it probably looked like a $19.95 paint job after a couple of months in the warm California Sun (with apologies and a tip of the fez to The Riverias)

Speaking of stations en Español, wonder if the CC suits have consider turning Eva into Evita? Wouldn't that be the first South Mtn stick (in current times) to en fuego with the Valley's Spanish speaking population?
