So I 'm totally board with Providence music stations same songs played over and over.Saw Mark Goodmans spot on TV and found a very inexpensive Sirius/XM receiver.what a great variety on the stations.you can mix it up and bounce around.Anyone else here do the same?Could this hurt local broadcasting as these radios become less expensive?

Don't you mean "went Satellite"? Terrestrial stations are considered "over the air" stations.

Satellite radio is little more than a pebble in the shoe of local broadcasters. The receivers have been pretty cheap all along, the subscription is where they've gotcha...without an active subscription all you have is a paperweight.
Sort of like the business model for inkjet printers...sell the printers at or below cost, then gouge you on ink cartridges.

I still listen to terrestrial in the morning when I wake up until I leave the house, but that's the only time I listen to radio at home. Then I have to say I'm totally spoiled in the car and the quarterly hit on my credit card for XM is unnoticeable. I've gotten too used to the variety of music, but I really don't expect terrestrial radio to cater to me.

Since ending my career as a radio personality, I find I have less patience for AM/FM broadcasting. I'm willing to pay the yearly fee for Sirius/XM for the "push and play" audio. Sure, I could build similar playlists, or use pandora and build stations.... or I can get in my car, push a button, and hear a station that sounds like what I wish PRO-FM sounded like, or what I wish BRU would sound like.
