Nov PPM's #s HERE

Ok cool.

It looks like despite all the Frank and Wanda hate on this board, they sure did bring in the numbers for V103. I'm sure CBS is rethinking that decision.

WVEE is in a transition period right now. They'll find the right fit and start winning again.

Hurricane Dave was on facebook talking about a 3-peat and how he's programmed 9 #1 stations and how Hot is the #1 station in the south. I had to remind him that V103 has been winning for 18 years and they're still winning in every demo except one, so he really doesn't have any room to talk after 3 months. He deleted me. lol.

You are correct that V-103 has been winning for years and years. But I'm not sure what you mean about rethinking that decision. Frank decided to leave on his own because he wanted syndication.

Wow.

Another scorching hot book for 106.7. What? Lower isn't better?

You'd think from all the fanboys here who hand on every moment of broadcasting from them, it was a major station instead of "Who? What station? Never heard of them."

More fans of mostly news on the board than listeners

Frank did choose to leave, but CBS could have done more to keep him.

When I was saying 18 years, I was referring to the Hot vs V battle. Thought I'd clarify that.

V has been the #1 urban station since its inception.

Majic or Kiss have never beaten V103 25-54. I believe the only station in recent history who has was WSB, and that was short lived.

Like those "fanboys" say: "It's going to take 5 years before you see any numbers". HAHAHA!

106.7 should go some form or modern rock (rock 100.5 or straight alternative) and get some Athens listeners. I personally think that 106.7 is THE best signal in town (except 97.1). I bet 97.1 and 106.7 reaches most people with Athens in the mix.

Also note a positive move on the oldies format. While I don't think 106.7 should go there AGAIN, I do think this format would go well on 100.5.

The reason why Dave deleted the post is because he knows it true. Hot isn't the #1 station in the South by a long shot. Yeah, they are #1 in their target demo but barely in the top 5 of the overall 6+.

You are right Frank and Wanda received so much criticism, but since their departure Vee has been hurting. I wonder why Ryan isn't bringing in the numbers? He was so strong in the afternoons.

Ryan isn't winning in mornings because he is still attempting to pull the 18-34 and 25-34 demo. Whereas Frank & Wanda just went after the 18-49 demo. It is all about presentation because Ricky Smiley show sucks but it has a better presentation when compared to Ryan Cameron. If Ryan wants to win, he will need to stick to the same thing that F&W did and stop trying to play to the kids. The kids are hopeless when it comes to morning radio and are a guarantee failure for any station in its overall 6+. Why do you think although Hot is #1 with 18-34 it struggles to maintain a top 5 showing in the overall numbers? Kids are useless unless you are aiming toward CHR/Pop crowd.

I agree. Frank and Wanda catered to a more mature audience. Ryan is going after the kids.

I think it has to do with the demographics listening in the morning vs afternoon. The younger demos are listening more in the afternoons and evenings, whereas mornings and middays are stronger in the upper demos.

I think Ryan was a better fit for the afternoon because he's childish and immature. He can relate more to the younger crowd.

I think they can pair Ryan up with a more mature cohost to try and balance him out, or just put him back in afternoons and look for somebody else who can relate more to the morning demographics.

I agree. I think that's why they added Mo Ivory as a co-host, but between Ryan and Crash and their silliness it just doesn't work. I think Mo should go back to talk radio she was a better fit in that arena.

Bingo! I couldn't have said it better myself.

I agree about Ryan and Crash Clark's silliness, it is at times obsessive and unnecessary. It's like I'm listening to something other than V-103 in that regard of the morning show. However, Reggie Rouse ought to increase Mo Ivory's role on the morning show as a mature figure to relate to us upper demo listeners or replace her with a strong female counterpart with some name recognition to ability provide a mature voice to the daypart. I think Ryan is community-oriented and a relatively familiar face here, but he isn't taken seriously by anyone over age 35...

Otherwise, V will continue to have a hard time maintaining competitiveness against Kiss or Majic with 25-54 year olds on the morning drive daypart.

This is true! So why do you think Egypt isn't bringing in the numbers for mid-days?

I listened to Ryan's morning show right after F&W left. It was just Ryan and Crash when I listened. I don't know who this "Mo Ivory" is, so I can't really comment on her. I'll have to listen again.

I haven't listened to Egypt at all, but I knew she wasn't going to come in and be an instant success. Most of the people V has experimented with in middays have been on the radio in Atlanta for years. She was flown in from New York and people don't really know her. It usually takes some time to build a loyal audience. What works in one market doesn't always work in the next. Plus, she doesn't really have a strong lead-in.

I think middays are usually more about the music. If they're having problems with the numbers in middays, then I think they need to look at their music choices first. Are they going after the right audience?

But those are just my first thoughts. I haven't listened to Mo or Egypt so I could be wrong.

Some of the audience is still peeved about Reggie Rouse and Rick Caffety pushing long time market midday stalwart, Ramona DeBreaux, from the timeslot for Egypt. Nowadays, Ramona just floats around and fill-in for anyone during a daytime and does weekends. Additionally, Egypt cannot focus on her midday show because she is always filming across the metro area and at times the state for the HGTV show, Property Virgins. It's like Reggie thought they could shoe her in and people would fall in love with Egypt instantaneously. Personally, I like Egypt, but I know the way things were done to get her there was "messy" at best.

Musically, the middays are on point and hitting all the right marks. It's the personality issues for the daypart that are catching up with V-103. Egypt seems to be likeable, but due to other obligations cannot exclusively focus on her radio show.

I don't see taking a lot of time off being a huge issue. Steve Harvey's morning show performs well and he's always on vacation. He's been #1 here in Charlotte since 2006.

Steve Harvey didn't start out at #1 either. It took him over a year to build an audience and get to #1.

I still think they need to look at the music. It may sound good, but are they going after the right people?
