Do you listen to Christmas music?

I know of 5 stations in the area currently playing all Christmas music: B101, 99.5 WJBR, 98.1 WOGL, 96.9 WFPG (Atlantic City), and 100.7 WLEV (Allentown). Do you listen to Christmas music on the radio? Which station do you think is the best? For me, I'd have to say 99.5 WJBR is the best.

Yes, but mainly on my ipod or CDs. The 'all Christmas music' stations play the same songs, same versions over & over, hour by hour. The stations also play very few Christmas carols and if they do they are instrumentals or very contemporary versions. So it's ok to hear Andy Williams sing "It's the Holiday Season" but not "Silent Night". Some songs are just too irritating to hear every hour - like Madonna 'Santa Baby' or "You're a mean One Mr. Grinch'. If I had to pick one it would be WOGL for the more traditional selection, B101 with the annoying recorded back announcer voice is the worst. I loved the old Sunny 104.5 Christmas format circa. 2002 with old movie & tv clips & an 'easy listening' style & much more interesting music blend. (Radio geek moment - on my ipod are hours of Christmas music recorded from Sunny 104.5 & WFMZ & WWSH with station IDs of course.)

By the way another all Christmas station locally is 88.9 WBYO 'Word FM' the contemporary Christian station in Sellersville & elsewhere in Pa. It is mostly contemp. Christian artists doing traditional carols but they mix in a 'standard' like Nat King Cole's 'Christmas Song' for variety. I guess they switched early this year with new format competition from K-Love 106.9.

OK - I live on the other side of the country, but still...

I enjoy Christmas music. Sometimes I get annoyed with my local AC (KRWM 106.9 Seattle) playing "Jingle Bell Rock" Bobby Helms every two hours, but they also play some interesting cuts (just heard Kenny Loggins' "The Christmas Song" about an hour ago, and also they play said song by Gloria Estefan as well which is a nice jazzy, relaxing cut)

WOGL seems to have a bigger library than the others. Of course, Sunny 104.5's Christmas music was legendary.

I definitely like 101.3 2WD's Christmas music. I actually decided to drive through Norfolk on the way to Florida instead of taking 95 all the way, because I wanted to hear 101.3 2WD for a few hours.

I agree with John1 that B101 is the worst -- they use the same recorded back announcer voice every year, and it's usually the same recordings! Sunny 104.5 was definitely the best. The way I look at the whole all Christmas music idea is that you only get to hear these songs for 5-6 weeks a year...you might as well enjoy them while they're on.

I don't care for Christmas music this far out from Christmas. I listen to my own CD/Tapes for the "secular" holiday songs while decorating the Christmas tree, etc, but for the "religious" Christmas music, I'll listen online to Lutheran Public Radio.

Also Family Radio 950 WPEN will offer some nice religious Christmas Music, when they don't have their preachers on.

A new FM at 88.1 from Pennsville, NJ [may not be able to get in Philly] is a Catholic station [possibly ETRN radio affiliate] that probably also will be airing religious Christmas music as we get closer to the Holy day of Christmas.

Yes, I listen to both Christmas music and Christmas programming.

Every December (just after Thanksgiving), Positively Different 107.5 Alive (WBYN-FM) airs both (Christian) Christmas music and (Christian) Christmas programming, which is great!
