Is KHTZ no more?

Will KHTZ ever come on the air or is it not valid any more?

I believe it has an app to move to 94.9.
However it seems the owners are taking their time getting it on or being held up.

Was KHTZ ever? It'll see the light of day when Roy Henderson sees fit and not one moment before. Don't believe it? Go to Palacios and tune to 99.7. Let us know when you hear something.

KHTZ has a Construction Permit for a Class C1 on 94.9.

The station is owned by Roy Henderson, who is notorious for letting licenses sit idle or unbuilt for years. Don't hold your breath on this one.

Don't forget KJAZ that station has been off the air for ever.

I'd like to be a fly on the wall within Victoria Radio Works right about now. So miffed about this debacle, they filed a PTD.

I can't speak on the above mentioned KROY-Palacios, but KULF (then KNUZ) in Bellville stayed off more than it was ever on for the better part of 10 years, fwiw.

KHTZ and KROY are back on, playing country music. My question is where is 95.3? They say it's on 3 stations. 94.9, 99.7, 95.3.

Do they ID the stations? Maybe they'll give a clue then.

Also was the one who claimed 105.3 KTWL would cover the Woodlands with a city grade signal...we know how well that has worked out! This man has evidently a lot of money, time and either drink or weed on his hands! ;)

KHTZ still has a bad feedback you can't even hardly listen to it!

Listened to 105.3 KTWL online for a little bit last week and heard an ID for "Texas Mix 105.3, 94.9, and 99.7"

Henderson's Michigan stations (except 101.9 WLDR) have also been known to be off the air for long periods of time. Speaking of Michigan, he once had grandiose plans for the FM dial up there, including moving a Class A station from Bear Lake (southwest of Traverse City), moving it to Bellaire, and upgrading it to 100kW. The FCC turned down that plan, but came up with a few new allocations using the existing dial which have all made it to the air, with different owners (97.7C3 Cheboygan, 98.7A Ludington, 106.3C2 Onaway)

YES REALLY CRAPPY!! How can the FCC allow this! Well look at how they handled KHHL!

Just another troll...

ftballfan-

You are a troll and should be banned from this board. You are not from Texas and never even been to Texas. You are a well known troll in yankeeland, too we've noticed. Your "bet" is worthless. I have met Henderson before. He's done a lot for Texas radio in his lifetime and has worked independently hard at it for a long time. He's an old man now, probably retired or close to it and wouldn't hurt anyone, even you troll. You should respect that if you had any common sense at all.

I'm no troll and I am a Native Texan...Roy H has been doing this with radio stations for a good while...he bought the Jasper 100.7 for dirt cheap after it went dark, moved the allocation to Winnie and then sold it to what is now Univision for a nice big profit....He has owned 105.3 in Hempstead for a good while and even claimed on HERE it would cover the Woodlands with its small increase a number of years ago...while people with considerable radio experience and knowing the area said NO WAY it will cover..and in the end who was correct? NOT Roy H....having the money and the know-how to help radio is one thing...but thats not him....he would be better off putting his money in the bank and letting someone else try to help the stations OR let them go dark and thin the band out a little...which may help another station or stations upgrade....

For what it's worth, KHTZ 94.9 is now simulcasting the Texas Country "Texas Mix" format of KTWL and KROY. :)
