Question about 1430 Panama City

I was in the Panama City area recently. Noticed 1430 AM was pitifully weak; barely listenable at Panama City Beach. It used to be quite audible across the salt-water path into Gulf Shores, my home turf, but not any more.

I used to hear it occasionally in Tallahassee.

How long ago did WLTG move into WDLP's old building on 15th Street? When I worked there 30 years ago they were in the same building as WPFM.

Me and 1430 go back to: "3WQ. The Adult Station, using frequency 1430" (voiced by Ruth Sommers) with Shannon West, Steve Grey, Kris Peterson: The Morning Breakfast Flake, to mention a few, circa '79/'80. Got to do 7-signoff/midnight, moved over to PFM 2-6am for a short bit with Jeff Davis/mornings, Skip Bishop..'
then I left town...

It was in the fall of 1982 that 3WQ flipped from AC to country, hoping that they would make a dent in PAP's ratings (it never happened, of course) and I went down there with Scott Owens. I was there for a year, then got canned after Jim "Do Me a Favor" Broaddus sold 3WQ and WPFM to Culpepper out of Texas.
I would work with Shannnon at WJAD.

Jim (&his bride) Birdie Broaddus were in charge when I left in December '80 with Ray St. James PD at 'PFM. Stan Powers (Waters) had headed north for the big time at Kix106 Birmingham (sad to have heard of his passing back when...).
