hot air gone from 50's at 5

I am so glad 50's on 5 is now jockless, it was so annoying to hear that windbag Pat St John and the other yakkers. I bought Satellite to hear music and just music not these pompous blow hards talking and making stupid comments. If I wanted to hear that crap I would just listen to T radio...good move...I hope they continue with all the other music channels.

Amen to that! I would love to see ALL of the Sirius/XM music channels go jockless. I, too, want music...not the same crap I could hear on terrestrial radio.

I liked Pat St John on the 50s channel. His presentations of popular hits from early Rock & Roll and the artists who originally wrote and recorded them were very interesting.
I don't mind hosts on satellite radio as long as they are interesting and get to the point keeping their presentations short.

The guy I could do without is Dave Hoefel. He adds nothing and his attempts at humor fall way short IMO.

The most obnoxious jocks on Sirius/XM are the "guest DJs" that show up on some of the channels. These guest DJs invariably suck. Often, a smooth jazz artist will take over Watercolors as a guest DJ in order to plug a new CD. And of all channels, Watercolors should be jockless. Smooth jazz is good background music. I don't want to hear chatter on a smooth jazz channel.

Hey Sirius/XM: I am paying to hear MUSIC, not chatter and certainly not "guest DJs" who sound worse than the kids on the college stations. At least the college kids are trying and they are learning the ropes on their stations. I also want music in the morning. I could not care less about which Hollywood bubblehead is sleeping with whom, nor am I interested in any of the other dreck on these morning shows. Just MUSIC, please...that's what I am paying to hear.

AMEN again to that, now if that idiot on 60's at 6 in the morning gets the hell off, with his stupid contests and those idiotic callers, who wants to hear what city is between a river and a mountain, give me a break. Plus that Motormouth at night that screams and yells between songs they have got to go. And that relic Cousin Brucie that makes me cringe, and makes me nervous with his routine yikes. It sounds like the old top 40 radio days, which I do not care for I want music non stop. Before the merger I think Sirius was no talk, XM had the yakkers then they combined and went to pot.

Funny how one man's trash is another man's treasure. It was what I considered to be added entertainment value of DJs like Phlash and Motormouth that led me to subscribe to XM over Sirius at the rollout of both services. If I want music alone, I listen to my iPod -- all for free and all songs that are hand picked favorites. Why would anyone waste a subscription fee wanting to hear just music?

+1. I thought Pat St. John added value to the morning slot. Creative, witty, got in/got out without getting in the way of the music. You also usually learned a little something along the way.

Exactly. Always enjoyed Pat St John's show on the 50s on Five. Hope he stays the same on the 60s channel.
Regarding "hangman's" mention of Terry "Motormouth" Young, he quit the 60s channel a year ago.

Radio in the 1950s was as much about the jocks as it was about the music (think Alan Freed, etc). If you only want music, you should probably get an iPod or some Time-Life CDs.

The problem with the jocks on Sirius/XM is that they are not the good, personality-type jocks of the 1950s and early 60s. Most of the Sirius/XM jocks suck like a tornado, especially the "celebrity DJs" that some of the channels inflict on us in order to plug a new CD. Just play the music...we can hear mediocre jocks aplenty on terrestrial radio.
