CBS Atlanta rebrands back to CBS 46

"CBS 46 News" debuts tomorrow (Monday) morning at 4:30. It's listed on DirecTV's on-screen guide. I assume they will have a new set and graphics as well. I'm interested to see the new "CBS 46" logo.

"CBS 46 News" did not debut this morning. Maybe tonight or tomorrow? The anchors and reporters have already changed their Twitter handles to @(last name)CBS46. For example, Stephany Fisher is now @FisherCBS46.

They could have used their call letters (WGCL) for branding purposes instead of the abbreviation of the main provider of their programming (the Columbia Broadcasting System) and their virtual digital channel number.

I've never liked "call letter" or "title" (CBS Atlanta) branding. It gives the TV station no identity at all. TV stations have always been CHANNELS and should be part of their brand. So I am glad they are going back to their "'46" branding. CBS 46 also sounds better.

Just saw the logo on their website, uh ....ehh...well... *shrugs shoulders*

That's the website logo since it says "CBS46.com". I highly doubt that is the logo/bug that they'll use on air. The one on air will probably be the CBS eye and a 46 in some design.

The station is now using "CBS 46" on the air during promos and commercials. I expect CBS 46 News to start today at 4:00. The on-air CBS 46 logo isn't bad at all. It's a medium-sized CBS written out with the CBS eye under it and then there is a big 46 to the right.

The new "CBS 46" news debuted at 4:00 along with a new set and graphics package. Both are pretty cool. I like the newscast's CBS 46 logo. It's an off-white CBS 46 with a midnight blue, almost black background. They still have the CBS Enforcer music package. Although the opening sounds a bit different. They also have a new voiceover guy... "Live from Midtown Atlanta, this is CBS 46 News."

I have to admit, it IS growing on me , it sorta looks like an updated version of the WGNX version

Tonight, I will tune my television to CBS 46 at 8:00 PM, and will leave it there until 10:00 PM. At 10:00, I'll change to the History Channel for the season premiere of Vikings. At 11:00, I'll see who Conan and Arsenio have as guests. If neither one looks interesting, I'll surf around for something that looks interesting. At 11:30, I'll check out who the guests on the main talk shows are. I'll pick the show with the most interesting guest, or if none are interesting, I'll see if there's something good on any other channel, or maybe catch up on episodes I've missed of Two Broke Girls or Mom on OnDemand.

At no point in my day will the "branding" of channel 46 have any impact at all on my viewing choices. None. Zero. Zilch. Zip. Nada. However, the programs they have on the air are very important to me. I'd watch the CBS Thursday sitcom block (unless it's repeats) no matter what they call the station.

Rebranding back to 46 a bad idea...

The reason they abandoned it was because of the negative connotation the station had earned over the years. It had become a joke.
The station had NO ratings.
The call letters were said to stand for We Got Clueless Leaders.
Meredith was the wrong company to own this loser.
They have NO experience in resurrecting a loser station.
CBS threatened to drop it a while back (after they screwed up the '04 HD presentation of the Super Bowl).
They said they had more complaints about this station than all the other stations in the network COMBINED.
Is it any surprised it has become a revolving door?

46 appears to have switched imaging voices yet again, kicking poor old Bill Ratner to the curb after just three months in favor of somebody who sounds a lot like him -but younger. Friendlier.

At this point they've changed everything except the music package. Would not mind seeing something happen there. Never been a fan of CBS Enforcer the way 46 uses it.

You know they are not my first choice for local news, but whenever there is a basketball game or something on and the 11 PM news is late.......I'd rather watch 46 than 11 or 5. And 46 puts out a pretty decent product. They just hardly ever get credit for it.
