The Todd Show, month 1

I honestly don't know what to think just yet....

There are some things I like. The listener call ins are always interesting. Some of the discussions they have are interesting. I DO like Annie. the stuff and situations she gets into that no one else would seem to encounter remind me an awful lot of my life. Makes for interesting conversation. Sheila seems to have her act together as well.

But the Audio processing makes the show tougher to listen too. It goes from real loud, to real soft and back to real loud again. And when it's loud, the voices are almost DROWNED OUT.
I also am on the fence with meatballs. I don't really think he's cut out for this kind of interviewing work. The funniest things I've found him
do haven't been the interviews he's brought in, but the stuff that happens to him WHILE trying to get interviews. Being ratted out by the hamster
wheel guy, and Being punched in the face for instance. Everything else I just keep on thinking "Brad Blanks would have made it interesting".
best way I can describe him is he reminds me of a TMZ reporter more than anything... He also really doesn't have a voice for radio either.
But hey, it's better than I can do on the radio, so I'm willing to give him a few months to see if he improves.

The other thing I can do without are the phone scams this time around. I think their time has come to be retired. Maybe I'm just getting older, but but out of the ten or so we've had so far (15?) I've only felt three where worth air checking.

Heh, I wouldn't make a good columnists reviewer. I hate saying anything that could be conceived of as negative, since people do really try hard to put on something good, and get so offended at anything coming close to criticism these days, but just curious if anyone else still listening is on the same wave length. I know this isn't really the board for PLJ discussions ;o).

I'm also curious on ratings...drop, or increase?

Just curious...are you listening "over the air"...or to their online stream? (Or...-gasp!-...their HD-1 audio?)

the internet stream.

And my god....they are really going for the female audience with this OBGYM talk they had this morning. that's just great breakfast talk....oy.....the topics this show brings up is better for the afternoon or midnight drive

The PLJ stream sucks big time. Level issues are all over the place. Sometimes normal, sometimes too loud. Don't know what they doing. Use some decent processing to fix that. Also WBLS has a bad audio quality stream.

at least they don't have it happen on air. but yeah, the net stream is terrible.

Speaking of terrible, the Todd show has about one month left before I go from day to day listening, to catching whenever......
they had a segment with their 'street reporter' meatballs on today. So far the kid has been punched, had a table thrown at him, nearly been arrested on set. Today, he got the 'dear leader' haircut and went around a town section populated by Koreans to ask them about it. He even tried the accent on air. how can anyone listen to that and think it's funny? Immature is the best way I can describe it. unprofessional at best.

I wish they'd dump meatballs and just stick to entertainment reporting and listener call ins.

SO, has anyone been keeping t abs on the Todd Show?

I admit I havn't been listening much. Within the first month of both shows, I was pretty much team scott due to the...raunchy nature of the Todd show turning me off.
just curious what people are thinking now that they've had 5 months or so under their belt....

I just checked today's file for the hell of it. is it just me, or are they playing more songs now and doing far less talk than when they started? supposedly when the show kicked off, more talk was going to be one of the highlights. I just listened to the first hour, and both breaks barely lasted 5 minutes. they are talking to a sharknado star now at the 6:50 hour and that is the longest break so far. I wonder if the higher ups told them to play more music.

The two major annoyances I have with this show are as follows:
Fake Laughter: It started with Scott and Todd last year. and it's gotten even worse with the Todd show this year. you can CLEARLY tell when someone's not even trying to laugh, and it comes off annoying with a half hearted attempt.

Sponsors. EVERYTHING seems sponsored...even the dead air. Hell, their blast off video wasted 40 seconds just showing tv screens of the 15 or so sponsors they had.
there are so many advertisements these days, due to greedy companies taking control of our lives and our wallets, people just tune out instantly. at least I do.

It really is amazing. During S and T 's last year, I thought Scott was the problem. and the show would sound so muc better without him. Now that I hear what it's like
with Todd fully in charge, it's kind of weird that I would find Scott's show far more interesting and so quickly.
