BTW, it was some consultant who's been telling AC stations to call themselves More-FM or My-FM. A station in Des Moines whose call letters spelled out "Light," KLTI, was told by their consultant to switch to more current-based AC hits and call themselves More FM. So they're now KMYR. Not sure how those call letters spell out More-FM, maybe MY FM, but they're now More FM. And I guess this same consultant told WBEB to do the same thing.
OK, so you're a 40 year old woman. Does More-FM sound more contemporary to you than B101, especially if B101 is what you've been calling the station since you started listening? I really think it's nonsense.
Some years ago, WLTW New York tried to get away from calling itself Lite-FM, switching to the phrase "New York's 106.7." After a couple of months, they also realized their mistake, and they went back to Lite-FM, although they never refer to their music as Lite.
But I guess the ultimate question is, why did previous generations of adult women want a station that was "light" or "easy" or "magic" but now they don't? (B101 was Easy 101 in the 70s and 80s.) Why did they want an AC station for relaxing, for a quiet mood, but now they want their AC station to sound almost like a Top 40? I thought the whole idea of going to WBEB or WLTW as to get away from too much loud teen music. Now, AC is basically Top 40 with a few 90s hits per hour added in?
