KDBL Yakima (The Bull)

They are "Strait Country 92.9" today, maybe due to the George Strait concert coming up soon in Tacoma? Or April Fool's? They have loads of George Strait they are playing. At first I thought they may have flipped to classic country.

Define "awash with tons of country signals".

Let's see, within about 90 miles...KDBL, KXDD, KXLE, KWIQ, KORD, KIOK. Six that I can hear regularly and more in other locations (like KMPS and KYYT in Goldendale)

Okay. I was just wondering because I imagine there are a lot of people in the younger demographic who would be tuning out of KDBL in favour of a station playing current pop country. I love George Strait, but most younger people view his traditional country style as boring and only want to hear another "Florida Georgia Line" song. I'm not so sure if KDBL is doing themselves a favour by playing so many songs by Strait, as so many young listeners are not into George.

I would love a radio station that played 80's and 90's country exclusively.. :( Unfortunately, radio today is about what attracts the youngest audience (by the look of it).

Yes - KMPS, KKWF, KANY, CJJR, KMNT, KXXK, KKXA-AM and KAPS-AM come to mind.
I don't like Florida Georgia Line, because they ruined their brand. Putting frickin' NELLY in a country song was a bad, bad idea folks!

I refuse to listen to modern country.

From my own personal observation, it seemed like most people around my age who listen to country music (which is effectively everyone) listened to KKWF 100.7. It seemed to me like "The Wolf" had imaging reminiscent of a pop radio station, and most of the on-air talent interacted with the listeners the same way they would on CHR radio. KMPS was a little more "traditional" (I use that term LOOSELY), as the station used to not be very "flashly" compared to their furry counterpart. I know they have made some serious changes around KMPS, so maybe that has changed. I am not sure.

Here is my most unscientific poll of what station in Seattle is more popular thanks to the help of facebook..
"Seattle Wolf" (KKWF) - 5 friends like it.
KMPS 94.1fm - 1 friend likes it.
