we loose out again no ground zero

By chance last night I caught a good alternative to CTCAM its called Ground Zero, its a take on Coast to Coast AM and better in some respects, but again I was listening to WTAM from Cleveland, no local outlet. I went to their site and they consider WILM, WDOV and WAEB Philadelphia stations, which is ridiculous, these are not Philly outlets. I cannot understand why the Philadelphia market constantly blocks CTCAM full time and will not carry GZ at all. With all the junk on the AM band, why not put it on 610 or 990 instead of the crap on their now at night. Oh wow!! sports, sports, sports, we have to have our sports on every station in the market, even on a signal that no one listens to 610.

its time to complain and call WPHT and CBS radio about this. If you don't complain, nothing will get done about this issue.

Do you really think they will listen...NYC has WOR for Ground Zero and CTCAM full schedules. Baltimore has CTCAM on WCBM full time and we have SPORTS on WIP and part time CTCAM on 1210, what a waste. I mean how much sports can one take, there are other things in life than watching, talking, drinking and eating sports. How much can you say about who is starting for the Phillies, who is the QB for the Eagles and so on. Either 560/610/900/950 or 990 should be carrying GZ.

you never know unless you try contacting CBS radio and WPHT.

Julius, you've been trying - it seems like for years. BigA is right; whether or not you complain, nothing happens. With all due respect, I feel I should remind you of Einstein's definition insanity: Doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.

I did get some replies from the station to my various e-mails, but I'm not going to disclose what they told me.

Well, I will... they told him they're programming for the majority of their listeners. They made decisions that will last years, not just the season of any given team. Probably also told him that Ground Zero, being a Premiere Nets product, is likely on IHeartRadio.

About the only way Jul will get any further/farther into their decision process is by being a ClearChannel stockholder.

Once again last night Hannity was on from midnight to 3AM, because of the lousy cellar dwelling Phillies. This is the second time this week and the season just began. When CTCAM resumed at 3AM most of the good stuff was over, and if you did not hear the first two hours you were lost. What I cannot understand is with all the underperforming AM signals in the area you would think one of them would take CTCAM from PHT. I wrote to CTCAM and received a reply that they are looking into it (yeh right) but it did seem they were unhappy with PHT pre-emptying them. Julius write to CTCAM and express your problems they would take action before PHT will.

I just sent this e-mail to the show:

I really wished that the show will leave WPHT because they are doing a poor job clearing your show 7 nights a week. they only air all 4 hours Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, Saturday they stop airing it at 4 AM, Sunday and Monday morning they stick infomercials in during the show and only airs half hour segments of your show and also 1210 runs a tape Delay Hannity in its entirety, cutting into Coast to coast AM. Wednesday and today, 1210 didn't air your show until 3 AM because they ran Hannity in its entirety. I really wish that you can do something about this because this is unfair to the listeners of your show.

My thoughts: It's time that we all contact CBS radio about WPHT. Call 212.649.9600, press 1 and type Mason to reach Dan Mason's office. Its time for him to make changes to 1210's talk format or drop the talk format.

You are aware, I assume, that Ground Zero and Coast to Coast AM are sister programs, both distributed by CC owned Premiere Networks?

Thanks for the info, but why in a city as large as this, you cannot hear GZ and CTCAM at their assigned times and full length??

that is puzzling, especially for a top 10 market.

Ask yourself this: Does CBS care if CC makes money? They really don't. It makes sense that they pre-empt a CC show to run a local show.

If CC is concerned, they should find a station in Philly for their own shows.

Since PHT has that mentality , They should not be carrying syndicated shows and just go all local 24/7. Their logic at PHT is horrendous

As a Californian in his seventies who never has managed to make it to Philadelphia I doubt I would ever fit into WPHT's demographic. However, regarding Ground Zero, here is a listing of the program's affiliates as of 11/13 - very poorly arranged I might add.

http://www.groundzeromedia.org/affiliates/

It is also sloppy. This listing lists as its Los Angeles affiliate KWNH - which is actually a repeater covering the Yucca Valley area linked to Palm Springs based KNWZ. According to the Wikipedia article on KNWZ, KWNH broadcasdts with a total power of 77 watts (that's not a typo - seven-seven)! If you want to listen to Ground Zero in Los Angeles you use CC O&O KOGO in San Diego, which uses it as a 7-10 lead-in to Coast to Coast.

The lack of east coast affiliates for Ground Zero may relate to the fact that it has only been in syndication since 2012. Even WOR in New York (which should reach the Quaker state) only carries it for two hours. WDOV, 1410 in Dover Delaware, is listed as "Philadelphia" as is WAEB 790 in Allentown; the two stations are both CC O&O outlets. If they don't reach Philly the Ground Zero website is misleading you just as it does Angelenos. For a program that specializes in conspiracies it seems rather conspiratorial to decieve potential audiences, wouldn't you say?

The simile of Don Quixote, the frustrated crusader tilting at windmills, was created for situations like this.

If the big kahunas at CC don't seem to care about the misleading affiliate list for one of their distributed programs why should anyone expect their counterparts CBS to be any more concerned?

As I pointed out in another thread, the ratings that CBS has for its stations in Philadelphia indicate that they're doing something right and that's what brings in the dollars.
