Is Fox Sports the only answer to 1360 WSAI?

I like Dan Patrick but not much else on the station.

Yes Radio25. It pretty much is the answer. Nobody is going to listen to some live, local music or talk on 1360. It's too expensive to run and you won't make the money back. How many times do you guys have to re-ask these questions? 1360, 1480, 910, 1320....just a few of the signals that could be turned off to clean up the band and nobody will ever notice.

I do like being able to pick up play-by-play of games on WSAI-1360. That station is used for some University of Louisville football & basketball games when U.K. is on WCKY-1530. WSAI is also being used to air Reds' spring training games on weekdays. There is other play-by-play there during the year such as post-season baseball, etc.

You can run music on it. How about Light Jazz? It would pull an older but mature and well-heeled listenership.

It needs to be programmed by someone who knows the format and a salesperson who knows how to find this real niche.

Music can be done on AM successfully and be profitable. How about the bluegrass and classic country network of stations WBZI 1500 et al (Xenia) or K-Mozart 1260 AM in California or WSM Nashville (flame thrower)

Let's ask Clear Channel to consider these ideas. They want to make money but also are looking in this economy to save money too. It can be done well and done for a reasonable cost.

Icangelp, you would be thinking incorrectly. CC runs FOX Sports and needs an affiliate. What other station in town would possibly be coveting FOX Sports Radio? It's not like it's a hot property. If anything, Jim Rome was the star of the network and now he's available without FOX.

Light Jazz? Sure, if you can get an FM translator. An AM by itself? No.

I would delete 1360 from this list and add 1230. 1360-WSAI has/had a pretty decent 5000 watt signal over the years. Over the years...I have managed to DX it over some pretty vast distances...including south Florida....Tulsa, OK and Albany, NY....and it has a null toward Albany at night too...

In the early 1960's WSAI was a fairly regular visitor during the wee hours at my high school home in Riverside, California. I even got a nice QSL card from them at the time. I've also heard them clearly on a car radio in Key West, FL and Mt. Vernon, VA at night. The Mt. Vernon reception was just two weeks ago. While a student at the University of Dayton (OH) in the late 60's, they were a regular stop on my AM dial, but in recent years, I have noticed their signal in the Dayton area has become overrun by lots of noise and weak stations on 1360 during the night hours. It's still there, but not pleasant to listen to... Also, for the record, they predominate 1360 in Lexington, KY at night.
