CBS FM soundprocessing tweaked!

Yes again. But it's positive. They change it and it sounds like Z100 in the 80's, although sort of...It sounds like they put some pre or post processing to the actual processing what it makes it louder. Or they use a new processor? What are you thinking?

Omnia 11 replaced Optimod 8600. If you like that "NYC" sound....you got it!

I think the sound changed a few months ago and board posters didn't notice until Shannon went on. They weren't listening.....

I didn't listened to CBS-FM as of right now, the sound processing is loud than Z100 that it was made back in the 1980's. Back in the old days of CBS-FM, they had a great sounding reverb like WABC did back in the 1970's when it was a music station. I missed hearing the reverb on CBS-FM, it was a great sounding station back when they were playing oldies. The sound processing is getting a lot better when it comes to Greatest Hits stations.

Anybody know of any examples on line of the "new" processing sound: YouTube video, SoundCloud file, etc? I already know their stream won't be taken off of their air signal...

No stream is Optimod 1100PC if I had it right? So correct me if I'm wrong? But off air it is the Optimod 8600?

For those of us not around NYC, a recorded sample would be greatly appreciated. I haven't been to NYC for a good 5 years now, but back then this station sounded purely amazing...Defiantly one of the best sounding stations processing wise I've ever heard.

From Bob Orban:

"Any Program Director who boasts of his station’s $20,000 worth of “enhancement” equipment should be first taken to a physician who can clean the wax from his ears, then forced to swear that he is not under the influence of any suspicious substances, and finally placed gently but firmly in front of a high-quality monitor system for a demonstration of the degradation that $20,000 worth of “enhancement” causes! Always remember that less is more."

It seems that 'CBS - FM finally discovered this - after only 34 years (the manuscript came out in the back of the Orban 8100A (analog) FM processor - in 1980!)?

Here's an over-the-air sample for you. It's an MP3 so it has its limitations but it should give you an idea.
It sounds richer and more full since they tweaked it a month or so ago. Definitely better than it was.
