WONE, epic disaster area!

Flipped on WONE to check out the Dragons game this evening. WONE was running Fox Sports because there was a rain delay at 5th/3rd Field. They broke into Fox Sports to air an update on the rain delay from the field. While that was airing, they broke into the report for a weather update, because it's raining. That update had the last sentence cut off, and they ended up in the middle of a commercial. There's blood on the carpet as AM radio continues it's slow, sad suicide. Epic!

In the mornings during The Dan Patrick Show they have liners for Wayside Collision Center traffic that repeats at least 3 times or more depending on the day. Also their website has yet to reflect the lineup changes at FSR. Obviously no one pays attention to this radio station.

Different station, but probably the same problem.... I think it was Monday morning on WXEG, during the "Rover" morning show, they continually were playing (their) music over the top of his show. Even when it's running better, they just seem to randomly insert music over the show and when a song ends, it fades into his show - can be the middle of a conversation, news "story", etc.

One interesting thing was a few times they played some cool, instrumental music, so I Shazam'd it and it came up as Pandora Original Mix by Alecx Beheme.

This isn't as much a harbinger of how bad AM radio is and it has nothing to do with AM radio. It has to do with sloppy management.

Point is that WING and WONE, 2 powerhouse signals back in the day, are now automated AM stations, and that owners do not care about AM as they're making their bucks on FM. Whoever is actually programming these stations is way beyond incompetent. I have visited other markets and it's usually, though not always, AM that just sucks. And it's not always the "big boys" as small operators can also make a mess of things. It's just sad how little some operators care about their operation. When you're passionate about radio it bothers you.
