I know Ten by Pearl Jam is over 20 years, but it is still strange to hear Alive on KJR. Or You've Got Another Thing Coming by Judas Priest.
I kind of like it.
I kind of like it.
So now KJR is trying to steal some KZOK listeners. Very interesting. I always thought KJR was "classic hits" not "Everything you can hear on 102.5, and a little bit more."

Remember that KBSG also had a ridiculously short playlist all during the '90s too. Seems like a Johnny Rivers song or "Sweet Pea" Tommy Roe could come on anytime in 4-3-2-1.
These oldies weren't much "fun" after a few hours...
I won't call out every Clear Channel radio station, as an oldies/classic hits radio station owned by CC in Portland is not bad. However, KJR is plain un-listenable.
Are you talking about 105-9 the Brew? Last time I was in the PDX, I found them to be good...wish CC, as much as I see them as the Walmart of radio, would create that kind of station here...maybe on 93.3 MHz, being KUBE is in a real slump and totally unlistenable (it's been unlistenable for 22 years). How many stations does CC need that sound almost the same? KUBE, KBKS, KYNW are almost clones...what a waste of spectrum. 102.9 should've stayed a simulcast of 950 KJR.
That is a pretty decent station from what I can tell, but I have never formally tested it out. I was actually talking about KLTH 106.7 which is owned by CC. Its not the greatest thing to happen to radio, but it is a classic hits radio station that dives into the 1960's. I'm sure the playlist gets old after a while, but I would take it any day over the stuff that is on KJR.
When I was around 8 years old (around 2003) I used to listen to KJR sometimes when we didn't have "The Mountain" on. I remember it being a better station back then. Maybe I was too young to notice that the playlist was about was flavourful as white bread.
Did you really need to say that you were 8 in '03? Doing the math, I could be your dad. Now I feel old.
KLTH is ok, but played to much old stuff last time I listened to them, which was about 3 years ago.
lol I suppose I comprise of the next generation of radio geeks!
KLTH could certainly be better than what they are. However, I still would rather listen to that station than KZOK or KJR. There used to be a classic rock station on 1480 KNTB (before it flipped to Deportes); the playlist literally comprised of a tape that they would play over and over again. If I heard a song I liked, I could just tine in the same time the next day and it would be playing![]()
Old KNTB...I remember back in the late 90's when they were part of the Triangle network...they called themselves 'Gay Radio' (along with KBRO Bremerton). The network was based in Palm Springs and played up what seemed to be all of the gay stereo types...lavender lights and such. Imagine my surprise when I stumbled upon that.
