Sometimes News PD is bye bye

dovetailing on the other thread, sounds like she left on her own, can't say anyone would blame her. Writing was on the wall when Bloomquist joined the company, thus the hiring of buddy Michael Graham who Ms Perry had zero say in.

Sometimes news 106 7 to be called news radio 106 7

Rodney Ho's blog today has the story.

There went the only hope to salvage the all news format. Stand by for Planet Radio Redux …

Jennifer Perry will be a definite loss to the station. Her delivery is superb. In fact, when she does headlines then goes to
ABC news with Sherry Preston....it is difficult to tell the difference in the two voices. Perry is network quality. Now the
question remains: What happens to John Lisk and Cheryl Castro now that the 9-NOON segment is being turned over to Michael Graham ? Lisk and Castro are two of the best in the business in Atlanta, both former CNN Radio anchors. Lisk was also a supervising producer at CNN. Too bad. Good talent. Hope that someone at "some news" has the sense to keep these two pros around.....!

Word out of Johnson ferry road is the contracts of most if not all of their anchors expired recently and weren't renewed, all working without a deal.

Hi everyone! I just read Rodney Ho's article. Apparently, I misinterpreted the whole Jennifer Perry thing. You guys had me convinced that Randall Bloomquist fired her. Yesterday on Thursday 5/8/2014, I emailed Mr. Bloomquist demanding he rehire her and then he resign so he doesn't repeat exactly what happened with WGST in 2006 with exception of the Braves & the GA Tech Yellow Jackets. All News 106.7 is locked in the PBP contracts for the teams. Then I read Rodney Ho's article today, and I emailed Mr. Bloomquist a second time. This time I apologized for misinterpreting the whole Jennifer Perry thing. She's "leaving for a job outside of radio." Therefore, she's leaving on her own. She's not being fired. She will indeed be missed. That is all.

Hey, Fan,
Have you ever heard of "being forced to resign?" Ever consider that Big Mr. B made it so uninviting for Jennifer to come to work that she determined to junk the whole thing and crawl away before she's beaten and bloody? No, no, I don't believe she "left on her own." She was pressured to quit. Bloomquist wants to re-establish his authority and power … and his screwy ideas of programming. When he got your second email, he likely chuckled, patted himself on the back and said, "Fooled another one."
I"m telling you he will blow it all up and bring back the worst of WGST 2006-2012.
My flag has been lowered to half-staff and is draped in black crepe. The one hope of dethroning the Mighty CMG has been destroyed by an egomaniac.

Maybe...just maybe...Jennifer sees that the station cannot get anywhere in the ratings, and maybe she just did not want on her resume that she was news director--program director of a ship that could not sail. It seems a good time for her to leave. I do not know her.
I never worked for her...but on the air she is probably the best female voice on Atlanta news radio. Maybe WSB should reach out to her and put her on their air. She sounds so good doing the news inside the Kimmer's show.

So does this mean Kimmer is about to follow...?

Listening to his shows is like listening to tapes from his GST days...somehow, and somewhere, the laughter died.

Layoffs confirmed at sometimes news 106 7

Black Friday at Cumulus ATL, news personnel who work the night and overnight shifts were canned.

Mike, after reading your post, you're probably right. Yes, I have heard of "being forced to resign." It's happened at The Weather Channel and various other businesses. In my first email message I sent to Mr. B, I chewed him out good, so I thought. I concluded the email message with asking him if he knew anything about Oldies 98.9 and the launch of the GTO (Good Time Oldies) Network. I had contacted Jenn Fallin, the person in charge of programming for Oldies 98.9, ahead of time about that. I also contacted the folks at Westwood One. Nobody has replied back to me. I think everyone at Cumulus and at Westwood One are keeping things classified concerning the GTO Network. If you're wrong about Jennifer Perry being fired, I probably did the right thing by apologizing to Mr. B because I didn't want him sending me anything via snail mail that would result in a court case. I didn't want him suing me over something that probably isn't true. I gave him my physical snail mail home address. I know I have no intentions of suing him over anything. It would be a waste of time. What do I think now? I'm back on board with you and others on RadioDiscussions and RadioInsight claiming that Jennifer Perry was indeed fired. That is all.

Glad you came around.

And I wouldn't worry about Bloomie sending his "law dogs" out after you. Why invite the public scrutiny? He's likely labeled your email as "spam" and never got the second one.

I do, a little bit, follow the logic on the post that said she may have wanted to bail rather than have the sinking ship of AN1067 on her resume, but for someone as professional as she is, I don't think she would cut and run that quick. Maybe, but I just don't think she's that kind of person. She is class.

Bloomie -- well, he's something else.

[Heavy sigh] Now those of us who appreciate good news can only wait for GPB to roll on June1.
