Ed Schultz: Gays were the ones "really" persecuted in Holocaust

I'm not surprised. It's about politics, not really about news/radio. Ed Schultz is Ed Schultz. For him to say something like that is like reporting that water is wet.

BTW, a dog bit me today. That is not news. I did not bite him back, but if I had, then that would have been news.

Thank you for proving my point. Now go post this on every single of the multitude of Rush threads here.

Yep. The fact that the usual suspects haven't even looked at this thread has proven everything I have been saying about this place for ages.

Ed Schultz doesn't get the criticism Limbaugh does, because Ed Schultz is irrelevant.

If Schulz was popular.....and lazy, uncreative programmers flooded the format with tons of Schulz clones, talkradio would be just as lame and unlistenable as it is now.

Talkradio is boring and predictable. It's also filled with many very dishonest hosts who have the integrity of a pimp.

So is Rush. That's the point. It's just a damn radio show. He might have been able to influence elections 20 years ago. That's not the case anymore.

Ed Schultz doesn't get the criticism here because the people who constantly bash Rush don't do so out of some love for radio. They do so because they don't like his politics. Ed doesn't get bashed because he has the "correct" politics for the peanut gallery.

So what you are saying is that, were a Grand Dragon to make an untrue statement about Blacks, it's OK because " a klukker is a klukker and for him to say something like that is like...."

There is no excuse for bigotry from any quarter, left, right, up or down. Excusing by benign neglect the horrible, horrible thing that Schultz said is equally without excuse.

None of these guys will be winning any awards for creativity or quality. More reasons why young people don't listen.

I'd even be willing to give him the benefit of the doubt that he misworded the original message, but the flip side hosts don't get that kind of leeway here, so screw him. He's a bigot.

In all fairness, the other side's hosts also tend to double down on their insensitive comments, whereas Schulz, IIRC, apologized last time he said something deemed insensitive. Maddow as well.

Keep on proving me right. It's a glorious thing.

Making the observation doesn't make me biased. I realize that's your usual copout, but try not to be upset.

Is it your contention that both sides are exactly even? Or is it that the "lib" hosts are worse"? Let's hear it. Put your cards on the table.

My contention is that most of the people here don't call out the liberal hosts. This thread proves it. Nothing more. This thread was created to prove that point. Not some point about all liberal and all conservative hosts. I made this thread to point out the hypocrisy of a majority of the posters here, and you helped me prove my point.

There are likely two reasons for this. One is they tend to lean left. The other is that they're bitter old washed up jocks that got displaced by Rush and syndicated programming. Either way, all you see is attacks on one side and crickets when the other side misbehaves.

So, are you ready to denounce Ed yet, or are you going to still make excuses and "what abouts"?

Google "Fallacy of relative privation". Your photo belongs in that article.

I have no interest in protecting Ed Schulz. He made an idiotic statement.

Having actually walked the grounds of Auschwitz & Birkenau many years ago, I find many of these host's "Hitler" and Holocaust-related comparisons to be absurd, uneducated, out-of-touch and insensitive.

Hosts just love to throw that stuff around though.

You could have just stopped there.

And another tu quoque argument....

What's next? The old "and you are lynching negroes" meme?

I was simply explaining why I find host's Hitler and Holocaust references particularly offensive. Pointing out that many do it is just being HONEST. If you want the truth, the far righties do it A LOT. I was actually being gracious in not coming out and just saying that in my last post, but everybody but a few here already know that anyway. But by all means, bury your head back in the sand and pretend that it isn't so, because Ed Schulz said something stupid about the gays and the nazis.

Do you actually know any young people personally? Creativity and quality are not attributes that most of them place high on their lists. The young people I've encountered don't listen because they have the attention spans of midge flies and find any talk about politics boring. If you think it's hard to get liberals to listen to conservatives, or vice-versa, that's easy compared to get the totally apolitical to listen to anything but second-rate music.

No, I'm saying that when a Grand Dragon makes a bigoted statement, it's not news because that's what you expect a Grand Dragon to say. The best way to deal with someone simply looking for attention by engaging in anti-social activity is to deny them attention. You can disagree with the effectiveness of withholding a desired result as a means of persuasion, but I know that it works. If everyone ignored Ed Schultz, his ratings would plummet and he'd be thrown off the air.

Call them out? I don't listen to them. I don't seek out articles to read about them. I totally ignore them. I had to look up who Ed Shultz was when I first saw his name. To me, he is no more relevant than someone doing a Polish language talk show in Warswaw.
