Are Kuhner's Ratings Really That Good?

I'm just adding to this thread because it's the 1st one that shows up with 'Kuhner' in the title, but let that go...

This morning he had on Larry Kudlow for his usual weekly 5 or 10 minute appearance. The discussion on illegal immigration/amnesty got so heated that they blew off the news altogether at the top of the hour and went straight through to about 9:20. At one point I thought I heard the music for the news and traffic come up behind them and then fade out. How often does this sort of thing happen?

Howie's doing a who-should -retire hour and I think someone just suggested Kuhner...earlier Howie mentioned CC buying WXTK and he said that's good, they're surrounding Boston with talk stations (he didn't mention they had one in town, 1200!) Where will Howie go at end of contract-- CC (if they signed him) with XTK as flagship and RKO as affiliate..
@bostonradio had tweeted he wondered if the likes of Cumu. or CC might swallow up Entercom...

If someone runs 50,000 watts into a directional array of antennas and its signal, in effect, goes nowhere, does that mean that station is really "broadcasting", or just wasting electricity?

Given what was said on this forum about CC and its Cape Cod acquisitions, I would think hopes for any programming changes for the better are slim to none.

Where will Howie go at end of contract--

My prediction is that he "self-syndicates".

Fact #1...no one is going to pay him the outrageous (and outdated) salary he currently has.

Fact #2...he doesn't want to be under the thumb of any one radio station.

My guess is that he holds together his little network of stations. (He is known to treat them all very well, whenever they need anything.) And maybe offer the show to one station in Boston. (Possibly WRKO!...and WRKO gets out from under having to pay his huge salary.)

But this time HE will be the boss...and not have to worry about Entercom, or any flavor-of-the-day executive.

Exactly. If the sale's approved, as it prob will be, Howie will have 2 CC-owned stations, WHYN and WXTK. As he points out,
they're on iHeart Radio. And under TuneIn.com I notice searching for Howie brings up...WXTK.

1200 btw did have signal issues but I could pick it up both day and night in Beverly, and the night pattern was headed
squarely toward Boston.

Here's the segment. You can hear the bumper music come up about 14 minutes in.

It is entirely possible that Kuhner's rating are what they are since all the state hospitals were closed many years ago letting the less than stabile element of society out without close supervision....
Elsewhere on the Boston board, the claim is made the Jeff Kuhner's ratings are sky high. WRKO-AM's overall rating is exactly where it was when WTKK-FM went away, and in the last rating period, the cume was down from earlier this year. Has EVERYTHING ELSE on WRKO tanked, while only Kuher's have been up?
