Hearing that from multiple sources...no one's saying what he's ailing with, but he was a chain smoker

It's been known that he did smoke. Even admitted it on the air one time during one of his commentaries on KOMO-TV when they were passing the 25-foot rule here in the state.

There's an update on Sea-Tac media...doesn't look good. Ken, you should've stopped smoking years ago...you old curmudgeon! (Is his present health concerns part of why he left / was let go from KOMO and KOMO-TV?)

Ken Schram was a fixture on the Puget Sound TV & radio landscape for decades. A very warm friendly guy off the air as well as on. Always willing to talk about anything. We will all miss him.

Ken Schram was one-of-a-kind. I distinctly remember, after a particularly in-your-face commentary back in the 80's, the anchors that day (I believe it was Connie Thompson and Jim Harriott) were left totally speechless.

He will definitely be missed!

Hopefully surrounded by those he loved and not those who pointed a finger at shoulda, coulda and woulda "years ago", considering that giving up smoking does not guarantee future freedom from troubles.

On the other hand Eubie Blake smoked until the day he died at 103.

Oh my goodness. RIP. I met Ken Schram years ago at a food drive up in Bothell - I have his autograph somewhere. Maybe I should put that up for sale. Sure would get loads of $$$.
Schram was VERY nice and his Town Meeting show and 6:00PM news commentaries were great. Is KOMO cursed or what?! First we lose Kathi, next Ken. Who'll die next?! :(

Even with political correctness overtaking nearly everything in today's society, I hope you have the common decency to recognize those two points you made are disgusting.

It's just that I can't believe everyone's dying at such a fast rate. Kathi, the two KOMO helicopter guys, then Jim Compton from KING, then Ken Schram. A bad two years at KOMO. It seems we have been losing more celebrities the last five years or so than normal. People dying in their 30s and 40s from drug overdoses. A sad thing.
