Billy West on Howie/WRKO

I didn't mind it; reminded me of the old days and more than a few of Howie's listeners will recall the Sex Survey,
seatbelt referendum, Jerry's voice, etc Not sure but I think West imitated him as "Jerry Swillums" on WBCN years ago.
And yes time for Howie to again drag out the "who, who dined at the Pahkkkman House? H-W-O-H, who?" story. Howie has had Billy's co-hort Charles Laquidara on for an interview once or twice. At the end Billy explains why his imitation of Nixon
(Nixon's preserved head) on Futurama has a bit of werewolf in it...

I just lost all respect for Billy West....

Huh? WHy.....because he appeared on Carr's show? <puzzled>

Will Carr ever stop using Jerry Williams to keep his career going?

Everyone who is success in this business is standing on the shoulders of those pioneers who came before us. Everyone.

As afternoon drive guy on WRKO....I hope he takes the best from those who preceded him.....including Jerry.

why am I PO'd?because he did a crappy imitation of Jerry, West is a local guy with first hand knowledge and he screws it up.

And I am not the only one who feels he did a crap job, when I sent the audio to one of Jerry's daughters she agreed.

As for Carr taking the best of those before him, there are some pretty distinguished people who occupied that chair and Carr has not taken one thing from them. Gene Burns, Jerry Williams, and a few others come to mind.

What other radio personality in this market keeps bringing up the guy who used to sit in the chair he occupies now?

Do Karlson & McKenzie mention Charles Laquidara? Does Dan Rea keep bringing up Brudnoy or Sullivan.

Do the guys on 93.7 ever mention Andleman, after all he was on 850 before them.

Does Kuhner mention Claprood & Whitley?

Carr drags out Jerry on a regular basis.

Mr.Villiams

Guy's are always looking for content. Has Carr used Jerry's " is there a straight man in the house" with West?

I don't listen to RKO but I have to admit I'd tune in if they did Jerry's Sex Survey...and Kuhner ran it?

Could not have said it better. Never thought Billy West was funny. I heard his terrible Jerry Williams imitation. Wouldn't have known who it was if Carr didn't keep telling us. I know Howie Carr. Howie Carr is no friend of mine but Howie Carr in no Jerry Williams. One of the best sound - a - like of Jerry Williams is one of his old producers, Alan Tolz.As

I have heard athe WBZ overnight hosts mention their predecessors...especially Larry Glick.

I have heard Dan Rea mention David Finnegan, Brudnoy and Peter Meade.

The Glicks, Brudnoys, Williams' are all giants. Nothing wrong with mentioning them.

Howie can't hold a candle to Jerry Williams, Gene Burns, David Brudnoy and even Larry Glick. Amazing how far he has gone with so little talent and an overdose of bigotry and jingoism.

There we go...back to the LarOminibus same old song and Howie bashing.

Doesn't matter..and doesn't negate the point that people DO and have mention their predecessors.

There is no rule that says that is off-limits.

Nice try, but you didn't answer the question.
When you can't argue the facts....throw mud...that's your style.

I'm just correcting the comment that no one can ever mention a predecessor.

Nice try, but you didn't answer the question.

Not trying at all. I told you, I'm just here to talk about radio...

And you? Do you have any radio experience that isn't 25-30 years old that you can bring to the table?

Or did the business wrong you and you are hanging onto 30 year old vendettas like a radio wannabe?

Excuse me but Howie Carr is what passes for a contemporary broadcaster. Why are you hung up with imaginary vendettas? Unless you have been in a closet one would know of the outstanding talk show hosts in Boston over the years. Perhaps, it is time for you to come out of the closet....

Like it or note....he IS a successful contemporary broadcaster. (We'll see what happens around Labor Day....maybe his status will change.) Howard Stern is too...much to my chagrin.

Why are you hung up with imaginary vendettas?

WHy am I hung up on them? I'm not. I'm just loking at the sum of your comments here, which are 30 year old stories...and they all turn into personal attacks...which leads me to believe you have very little recent radio experience (if any at all).

Your posts are all about attacking people you don't like...and have very little to do with radio. Which leads me to believe you are just a radio wannabe. It's sad.
