A very slight reshuffling of the titles within the top 50-100 or so over these last three lists.

Some interesting entries on the current edition (the oldest/newest titles):

17. FOUR SEASONS | Big Girls Don’t Cry | 1962 (oldest selection)
101. FOUR SEASONS | Sherry | 1962 (oldest selection)
Newest entries:
36. DEF LEPPARD | Pour Some Sugar On Me | 1988
113. MADONNA | Like A Prayer | 1989
135. MADONNA | Vogue | 1990
144. BON JOVI | I’ll Be There For You | 1989

Former #1 overall titles:

348. MICHAEL JACKSON | Thriller | 1984
39. VAN MORRISON | Brown Eyed Girl | 1967
---. FOUR SEASONS | Ragdoll | 1964 (so much for "Jersey Boys" helping this particular song)

I could be wrong or missing some newer/older titles or otherwise interesting entries...fill in as needed.

The issue of radio station countdowns have been discussed on other message boards before. If a hit that is not consistent with the station's format gets enough votes, it wll not make the survey. For years In the Still of the Night was #1 on the WCBS-FM Top 500, but it is not listed in this survey. One must take these surveys with a grain of salt.

It was a matter of time that some 90's would make an appearance on CBS-FM. It's great to still see a song like 1968's "Hey Jude" at the top!

Another poster on another board mentioned that radio is moving away from countdowns or making them really short, like K-Earth's "top 101", but I suppose WCBS is a rare exception.

Here's the top 101 for KRTH this weekend:

Correction to my earlier post:

The oldest song on the Top 500 is #197 "Stand By Me" by Ben E. King from 1961.
Of course, its use in the film of the same name in 1986 has kept the song in higher profile.

Yep! Over in the Hudson Valley, WGNY-FM's "Fox Oldies" also plays "Stand By Me" as well, because it's still an oldies station at 98.9 and up in Albany, WROW's "Magic 590" played it too and it was a hit for him in 1961, but it was later released in 1986 in conjunction with the film "Stand By Me" with River Phoenix. "Fox Oldies" and "Magic 590" also played songs that are from the "Dirty Dancing" soundtrack in 1987, but I heard "Do You Love Me" by the Contours which was also a big hut in 1962 and then released again in 1988, but you hear some oldies that can heard on the soundtrack. "Unchained Melody" by the Righteous Brothers was a big hit in 1965 and then it hit again in 1990 which was also from the movie "Ghost".

If CBS-FM will start playing 90's music in the next year or two, Boyz II Men will put their version of "In the Still of the Nite" to #1, not the Five Satins original. I remember back on Christmas Eve of last year, "Fox Oldies" played the Five Satins song "In the Still of the Nite" by the Five Satins during Van Ritshie's show and that song was indeed the #1 oldie of all time in the original "Top 500", and it still remains as a favorite New York song.
