Where is the Center

That's all well and good, except for the fact that the so-called NON-mainstream media, a/k/a Fox news and talkradio, are demonstrably BIGGER liars and propagandists. And only a small niche of the then-40's, now-60's aged listeners seek out those sources that just tell them what they want to hear. *cough*UNSKEWED POLLS*cough*

Who do you think you're fooling with this nonsense?

The only thing that's actually changed, is that people like Roger Ailes have decided to turn our nation's discourse into a shallow football game-like environment where it's always "us vs. them", and you defend your side no matter what. It's not good for the country, but it's definitely good for the shareholders.

You really don't get it, do you? The broadcast media was never about anything but making a profit for the shareholders. The only difference between Fox and the other major news networks is which direction they're biased. All of the major news networks claim to be professional, objective journalists. None of them are. Not a single one of them. The only difference is that when all of the major networks were slanted totally to the left, Fox came along and saw an unfilled market niche that they could exploit for better ratings and profits. Ailes didn't change the game. Ailes simply added a right-wing alternative to the existing left-wing propaganda mills that were already running. Sure, to someone who drank the liberal Kool-Aid, and who things that the old networks back in the Dan Rather (or Walter Cronkite) days were unbiased and not the least bit slanted, seeing someone emerge on the other side would upset your whole apple cart. I'm sure you liberals where really happy pretending that your little left-wing media paradise didn't have any competition from the other side. But as soon as competition comes along, those of you on the left start whining that things are all polarized now. You didn't mind when everything was totally polarized on your side. You'd tolerate the occasional conservative like William H. Buckley, Jr. because he had a posh sounding accent and was so erudite that few people could even follow what he was saying.

That's why I display such a knee-jerk reaction to the hypocrites who denounce name-calling, except when they do it. And, I'll include those who set rules against name-calling, but only enforce those rules against people who are on one side of the spectrum even if it means characterizing the use of accurate descriptions as name-calling.

Again, look who's talking. (Hey, this might turn into my catch phrase!)

Actually, the dreaded, slanted, librul, mainstream, state-run media exercises at least SOME degree of accountability by ratting itself out when it gets something wrong or holding Democrat feet to the fire. Not always, but they DO do it. Can you make that same claim about Fox news coverage of the GOP or conservatives? EVER? Seriously, EVER?

Just like a successful cult, the conservative entertainment complex has convinced the eager believers that evvvvvvverybody else is lying, but THEY have it right and are telling you the truth.

A sucker born every minute.

It's also interesting, and telling, that you keep referring to "my side". I am not liberal or registered as a Dem. But to people like you who are incapable of more complicated thought, it's only one way or the other. So if I'm not a wingnut, I must be a librul! Your thinking is so stunted.

If you walk like a duck, and you talk like a duck ...

Nowhere in the Bush clip do they call the trip a "publicity stunt." And there's, percentage wise, more time spent on the VA scandal than the Obama trip. The Bush clip mentions current scandals, and so does the Obama. IRS and Benghazi aren't current scandals. The economy is actually doing well, and the stock market just reached an historic high, and neither of those points were mentioned. If NBC really wanted to pump up Obama, they wouldn't have brought up the VA at all, or interviewed the veteran. So if you evaluate the two clips based on time spent on pro and con, neither President gets off easily.

Wingnuts NEVER notice when Obama gets negative publicity in the lubrul state-run media. They only mention the positive coverage because it allows them to bat down the faux strawman that the media is "in the tank" for Obama. Again, the Karl Rove tactic of accusing others what you yourself are most guilty of doing.

To be fair, if the Obama clip didn't mention IRS or Benghazi, the Bush clip didn't mention Abu Grabe, other prison tortures, and the FEMA scandal after Katrina.

Then why is the stock market reaching all time highs?

Because of almost zero interest rates and tons of speculation. The fed is propping up the stock market. Every other measurement of the economy is absolutely terrible. A monstrous crash is coming, the likes of which we haven't ever seen.

They display a sense of longing for the days when people were always polite, and kids said "sir" and "m'am", and "please" and "thank you", and everyone knew their place and was happy in it. I can empathize with a longing to return to a time when things were less complicated, but I'm too grounded in reality to think it will ever happen.

"Everyone knew their place and was happy in it." Especially them pushy wimmin and uppity minorities, right, AL? AND YOU GODDAM KIDS GET OFFA MY LAWN!!!

Eh. I've made some decent money investing over the last 6 years, and not in spec stocks either. Plenty of solid stocks driving the market recovery. I'm talking great P/E and PEG ratios. That's not speculation, that's performance.
