92.1 was Country?

I never heard of 92.1 in Austin in the 90's.

92.5 KKLB Club 92.5 was a Tejano station.
104.3 was KIKK a Country station out in Killeen/Temple and not a player in the Austin market.
KRGT 92.1 was based in Hutto as a Spanish language format also not a player in the Austin market.

93.3 KMXX Mix 93.3 was still out in Killeen.
107.7 KNNC was an Alternative format at the time til 1995 when KROX 101.5 signed on.
KPLE 104.3 was Country but licensed to Temple. Not an Austin player.

So you're Austin FM stations were actually

93.7 KLBJ Active Rock
95.5 KKMJ Adult Contemporary
96.7 KHFI Contemporary Top 40
98.1 KVET Country
100.7 KASE Country
102.3 KPEZ Classic Rock
103.5 KEYI Adult Contemporary
107.1 KGSR Adult Album Contemporary

excluding the low power non commercial stations.

Wasn't 107.1 Smooth Jazz at one time? And I think 93.3 was Smooth Jazz for a while too.

You are thinking of 106.3 which moved in to Austin's listening area around 2003.

Yes 93.3 was Smooth Jazz but years later.

93.3 Top 40, AC, Country, 70's, Smooth Jazz, Top 40, Dance, Hip Hop, AAA

92.1 went country "Kick 92" briefly in the mid-90's. Prior to that, it was regional Mexican KRGT.

107.1 was the predecessor to smooth jazz, which was called "New AC," as KSSR prior to switching to AAA as KGSR. I believe it dropped NAC in either '89 or '90. It hired Susan Castle away from WNUA in Chicago, and she lasted more than 20 years after the format change.

93.3 was smooth jazz starting either in very late '95 or very early '96 as KAJZ.

92.1/106.3 picked up the format briefly and ran the Jones format before going K-Love.

But they weren't Austin radio stations at the time.

106.3 was out in Gonzalez
92.1 had to not be an Austin station at the time. I do remember Club 92.5 playing Tejano in 1993
It was 1989 when KSSR switched to KGSR. It happened in the fall. I think it was October 1989. Still called themselves Star 107 KGSR.
I think it was 1993 when they dropped the Star moniker and became "107 KGSR"
But you are on the money about KAJZ being very late '95 they flipped the 70's format that 93.3 had previously.
And the station Smooth Jazz 93.3 sounded like Smooth FM 98.5 KHYS in Houston and Smooth Jazz 105.7 KCJZ in San Antonio.

But they weren't Austin radio stations at the time.

While I'll agree with you that KRGT and KSSR didn't have the best signals in Austin at the time, Arbitron counted both of them as Austin stations as far back as the Spring 1988 book.

KRGT moved from Taylor to Hutto in '88 and even had a sales office in Austin, though its studios were in the backwoods between Taylor and Hutto. I'm not aware of KRGT even making the book, but it was really running the wrong format for the stick. The Kick country format was better suited for the signal, but it couldn't compete with the likes of KVET and KASE. It added 1530, but that didn't help the signal where it was needed.

106.3 was out in Gonzalez

I believe 106.3 was added when 92.1 went to smooth jazz.

106.3 Gonzalez Was Added In 1998 I Remember Seeing An Old Kick 92.1 Billboard Near Palmer And Lamar In The Mid 90'S

They may have called it an Austin radio station but the stick was out in Luling. Not as strong as it was in the 90's by the way.

They played a free form eclectic style format like KRMH Good Karma then they went Country. Froggy came on board around 1992.

Mix 94.7 Tower Was In Buda With 103.5 Bob FM Before 1997

I never understood why they still have Luling as their ID Still? They never changed that.

Can 94.7 Still Be Heard In Luling Although They Sound As Generic Like Every1 Else

94.7

KAMX still says Luling in the legal ID because it is licensed as a Luling station and therefore must cover Luling with a city-grade signal, which is still does. Much the same as KBPA still says San Marcos in it's legal ID. It is a bit surprising that KAMX was able to move their antenna from the Kyle tower to the Westlake antenna farm and still provide Luling with a city grade signal and KBPA did not (or could not) move from Kyle to the Westlake farm at the same time.
