Where is the Center

But it hasn't happened yet. That's the argument we always get. Because those who support this lunacy are either incapable or unwilling to look into the future.

The president himself said it would be a process that would take 10 or 15 years. The illegal delays in various mandates until after the elections just puts those dates off even further.

Are you referring to the same man who said, "If you like your current health insurance you can keep it"?

That's a good point. Not sure I agree, since listeners are creatures of habit.

Only if you keep giving them fresh cheese. And this assumes all of the audience is still alive.

Also the habit was: Tune in WABC and hear Rush & Hannity. When they moved to WOR, the habit was broken.

BUT IT HASN'T HAPPENED AS OF TODAY! IT WILL NEVER HAPPEN!

Moving stations is a big problem. But to be honest, NY, Boston and LA are just clearances for those guys. It's not like they expect to dominate those markets. Luckily for them they have 600 other stations to make them money. There is a whole country between I-5 and I-95.

Dominate? I'm not talking about dominating. I'm just talking about holding your own.

And we're not just talking about Rush & Hannity. It takes a lot of failures to earn a 1 share.

Except that MOST of the money they make is generated by the large and major markets.

It also takes a lot more reasons than "OMG PEOPLE DON'T WANT TO HEAR CONSERVATIVE TALK RADIO ANYMORE". It's a complicated issue, or else the people running those stations would have fixed the problem by now.

I think I've said it's 3 things: Boring hosts, aging audience, and AM radio. That's a tough trio to overcome.

In this world where people have short attention spans and unlimited media choices, it's hard to make a living on the air. You can quote me.

If it doesn't happen, it will be because the electorate will end the Democrat Party's domination of Congress in 2014, and the new GOP Congress will stop the plans. But if the Democrat Party retains the Senate in 2014 and the White House in 2016, We'll have European style socialized medicine in the US by 2018.

I hope we do end up with it, just to see steam come out of your ears when you have to pay, what, 99% of your income to taxes so a welfare mom can take her 20 kids to the doctor...and then maybe to Disneyland.

Somebody, quick! Get him a fainting couch!

But those 20 children were already covered before Obamacare. Either through Medicaid, or through the CHIP law that Congress passed in 1997.

I don't recall ever hearing the President, or any prominent Democrat politician, say that Obamacare was so flawed it would eventually have to be transformed into single payer, socialised medicine.

But -- I have heard progressive talk hosts say that this would probably eventually happen because of the perceived flaws in the law, and almost every local Democrat I know (most of them progressives) say the same thing -- they say it was a flawed law, that it will not work, and Congress will eventually have to "fix" the law and go single payer.

So the conservative talk hosts aren't pulling these ideas out of some conspiratorial hat. They probably have heard the same things said by some Democrats.

Yes, but I believe under the ACA, if you have 20 or more kids, you DO get a free trip to Disneyland with every round of checkups.

It takes both Houses of Congress to pass a law. Says so in the Constitution. Regardless of who is in the White House.

I believe there are TWO constitutions: There's the one talk show hosts and their followers use, and then there's the one everybody else goes by.

(Hint: If you look really close at one of the two documents, you'll see Alex Jones' signature right under Alexander Hamilton's)

Depending on what state you live in, they may or may not find those programs working.

Depending on what neighborhood you live in, they may or may not find a doctor who will make room in his/her schedule to see children covered by these programs.

We are a nation of people who have a range of ideas on what the state should do (and ONLY the state should do), and what activities should be performed by the Federal government. And there are people who feel ONLY the states should do many things and the national government has no business getting involved.

Whether one is happy or unhappy about ACA, it appears that a driving force that brought it about was the fact that too many state and local governments refused to make programs work for the non-affluent part of the population, so a block of legislators at the national level said: If you folks can't get your act together... we will just do it for you, do it to you.

So now we sit around and argue over who are the good guys and who are the bad guys in this drama.

And this relates to discussing radio how? Let the record show that Talk Radio has not helped the populace understand the "big picture"... who whole picture. Talk Radio has simply been a partisan in the years-long struggle leading up to the current program. Now that ACA is in place, and does need some repairs and fixes, will Talk Radio be a helpful tool that helps us understand what our opportunities and problems are... or will Talk Radio just be part of the problem?

Oh, good grief. Now we're digging up Reagan and Lee Atwater's Cadillac-driving-"welfare-queen" trope. Even Atwater admitted that was BS...

I think it'll take a little longer than that, maybe 2028. But point taken.

You say this like it's fact. It's not. People who listen to talk radio know more about this thing that the average person who still thinks it's "free healthcare". They just don't agree with your mistaken idea of what the ACA is, so you automatically say they're the "problem".

Let the record show that you're wrong.

I saw a young lady of about 23 years of age today, getting out of her practical car, not being one of the beautiful people. On the bumper was a single bumper sticker: "Defend the Constitution", centered and placed just so. The bumper sticker was approximately the size of a 3x5 index card.

...just in case all of you power brokers on this thread were interested.
