We can look at the 12+ numbers all we want, but in the last book there was a BIG surprise in the most purchased demo:

By group, A25-54 Mon-Sun 6a-12M:

South Central 25.3
Cumulus 21.2
Journal 21.0

I wonder what JPE's cash flow multiple would've looked like if he'd waited for a book like this?

No announcement yet on a replacement. Mike put up on his facebook page that he was leaving Journal but was still going to consult.

I like Q (sounds a whole lot better than WIVK, but are they honestly making any ratings progress). They probably should of put classic hits on the 100.3 signal & focused it a bit younger towards more 80s music to keep the demos from being too old. It might've drawn bigger numbers (but, as I said, they would need to lean a bit younger to make them profitable). Anyway, I love the energy & sound of Q, but so far, they just don't seem to be accomplishing much.

WIVK's in high double digits again, and I've seen nothing promotional from Q since the initial TV buy.

They started a billboard campaign around town a few weeks back. There are a couple of Q billboards on I-40 in west Knox. (westbound before Walker Springs & eastbound on a digital rotating sign near Cedar Bluff). They are both promoting 100 min music marathons they are doing now.

Like I said, they sound decent, but just don't seem to be making much traction for the money they've spent. The classic hits format from 93.1 (done locally instead of that awful automated one they have now) would've maybe been a wiser choice for 100.3. Or maybe an adult hits/Jack type 80s/90s format.

I've heard 93.1 in quite a few businesses around town. Seems like a lot of places that used to go with the softer sounds of 97.5 have made the move to 93.1 since 97.5 has steered more modern.

Obviously, that doesn't mean squat for either station in the ratings book, but I think it has helped 93.1 build its awareness as well as an ad campaign would.
