Rob Piercy Leaves KING 5

Wow...I too thought Rob was destined to become one of KING's "next-gen" anchors. Hmm...Gannett must have other plans for Seattle. Bring in young and cheap -- even at the sacrifice of ratings.

He indicates in his twitter that he is starting soon at a new, non-TV job. With Gannett taking over its hard to figure who is leaving on their own and who is pushed but, he may have left on his own.

Has Jim Forman been on a medical leave again? Have not seen him for at least a couple months.

While I respect Jim's previous work at the station, I do think he is a target for non-renewal of his contract when it comes up. I'm sure he makes alot of money and Gannett can probably hire 3 VJ's for his salary.

Jesse Jones, on the other hand, is probably safe because of his extremely popular "Get Jesse".

And don't forget, we've got a "whole new look" from the graphics department at KING-5 and KONG-6 to look forward to on Thursday!

They already seem to have been going a bit nuts with the sound effects that sound like missile launches and the sparkly lines that might make you think you're having a stroke when watching their newscasts. I sure hope they can retire those. While I've relied on the KING channels for news for some years, these silly things are lowering their credibility in my opinion. And giving me a headache. There isn't one of the three major news channels in Seattle that doesn't include ear-splitting whooshing noises between their stories now. And lots of flashing things on the screen to keep you anxious. How did we ever watch the news years ago when there weren't all of these visual tattoos and loud noises to keep us entertained throughout all of those "boring news stories"?

KING has the talent to remain the top newscast in town. But I sure hope it doesn't mean any more "It Could Be Worse" or "Social Media" segments to "dress up the news." There's so much more I would like to know about the world. And the Seattle Times has become a poor alternative. What's behind all these silly gimmicks cluttering up the local newscasts?
