fifa world cup 2014 on espn radio

i've been critical of espn radio for a long time now.

however, they deserve praise and credit for their first week of coverage of the world cup.

other than the ever annoying geico spots, the presentation is clean, informative, respectful and easy to access. i went from car to mobile app to car and back to the app for the italy v. england match yesterday without one issue.

ross dyer is an outstanding play by play man - fluid, informed, easy on the ears and sticks to big moments not strict pbp.

Heard a bunch of coverage on ESPN Deportes, even though I couldn't understand 90% of it. Haven't heard the coverage on the English ESPN yet, just haven't tuned in during the right times I guess. Haven't heard much coverage on the other sports networks, either, for some reason -- except a guy on NBC Sports talking about the US team's chances.

So far, the only place I've heard ESPN's coverage is on SiriusXM. I don't suppose any terrestrial stations will pick up the broadcasts unless the US is playing. Are all the announcers actually at the venues or are they calling the games from Bristol while watching TV?

i heard the coverage over air in my market - albeit it was over the weekend.

not sure about them being there, i imagine they are there because it's the same hemisphere and the 2010 ratings were good.

i know the TV side is there.

You can bet most games will be carried by the Spanish-speaking networks (both radio and TV).

I listened briefly to the local ESPN radio station during several of the World Cup matches, and the only TV I could get was OTA Univision.

Unfortunately, the ESPN coverage in English had a 15 second lag behind the video I was watching on Univision, so I switched it off and just followed what I could in Spanish off the TV.

There was a local Spanish speaking station playing the Primera Futbol (?) play by play, live, in Spanish, so I don't know why the lag in ESPN English.

I too watched the games OTA on Univision. There was a delay on satellite as well as a delay on radio. I could sync those up fine, but they were 22 seconds behind OTA TV.
