Mike Malloy controversial comments

http://www.*************/Big-Journa...-Panic-If-Someone-Openly-Carries-Gun-Near-Him

Sure to be a controversial topic, but the comments are controversial

>>Liberal radio host Mike Malloy is reacting to broadened firearm carry rights in Georgia and open carry demonstrations around the county by promising to cause a public panic, perhaps resulting in the death of the person lawfully--and openly--carrying a firearm, if he sees such an individual.

Really, RR? Breitbart recycling Newsbusters? The comments were controversial once those two twisted them. For the record, even the NRA has criticized these "open carry" demonstrations. Try reading a real newspaper site sometime.

Deflect deflect ad hominem....typical.

How's the racism working out for you, Fred?

And of course there's no outrage from the hand wringers here complaining about the lack of "civility" on radio because its one of their guys saying outrageous things. Threatening to have someone killed is apparently nothing to this bunch.

Heeeeeee's baaaaaaack...

LOL.

Seriously though, the confluence of the gun-huggers two fav things could end up costing them their lives:

1) They loooove "stand your ground" laws
2) They loooove open carry.

Theoretically, someone could use SYG (not to be confused with internet malcontent SMG), and shoot an open carry person with the excuse that they felt threatened by the visual presence of a weapon.

See how that works?

As far as Mike Malloy's comments about inciting someone, like a LEO, to shoot an open-carry person? Ludicrous comment. There are enough unhinged hosts ruining talkradio from the right, so why ruin it across the board? Stupid and unnecessary.

There's nothing wrong with private citizens owning firearms, but this flaunting of them reminds me of when gay people flaunt their behavior in your face to make some point that usually only ends up alienating them more from people who would otherwise be sympathetic to their plight.

Can't ruin something "across the board" when only one side is making death threats.

And still waiting for an UNQUALIFIED "this is wrong" without mentioning conservative talk radio in the same sentence.

Crickets so far. Not that I'm surprised one bit.

What part of my criticism of Malloy did you NOT understand? I used the words "ludicrous" and "stupid" to describe his comments. You really have a reading comprehension problem. Oh wait, I get it: You want me to criticize him without making any reference to all the dog-whistle reckless crap spewed over the air all the time by wacko righties. Sorry, but you only get to write your own posts, and why would anyone leave that out? It's ruined the format and needs to be pointed out and railed against whenever possible. They deserve it, at the very least. You're just hyper-sensitive to it because you're one of them.

And what happened to putting me on "ignore"?

So much for that! LOL

I took a peek at your posts to see if you're going to be a man about this. I guess not.

Don't worry, no one else is even giving criticism at all, much less trying to play the "blame everyone" game, so you have that going for you. Congrats, you're the least hypocritical of the hypocrites.

I guess it's the heat wave we're having this week in Georgia affecting my brain, but I don't understand what the tug-of-war is that is driving this thread into extra innings.

I'm on the ground in the state in question. Some of the quotes on TV and in the Atlanta daily newspaper during the legislative session are certainly thought provoking. I think I have a pretty good understanding of the "battle" in our nation over gun ownership and gun-toting. But a good understanding of the national conversation does not prepare one for the sub-conversations in Georgia (on the streets) and the conversations in Georgia.... in the legislature.

I will let Mike Malloy "stew in his on juices of his own making" without jumping in his view of the world.

I don't care how YOU think I should couch any answer to anything. Malloy made a dumb statement. Whoopee! The gist of your OP is that "oh those bad liberals! SEE, they do it too!"

The problem is, if you're keeping score of idiotic statements on talkradio, it's dumb conservative statements outnumbering dumb liberal statements by a ratio of about 400:1, which begs the question: Why would you even bring this up considering rightie's horrible record over the last 10 years---especially since the black man was elected President?

So I'll take that as a "no" on the denouncing Malloy for being uncivil, despite being one of the biggest whiners here about lack of civility on the radio?

Taking the cop out route of letting the "chips fall where they may" isn't going to work. Malloy isn't going to get fired over this, nor should he. He's going to face absolutely no repercussions, for two reasons. First, no one heard these comments. Second, the people who support him probably agree with him. For all the whining the left does about "civility" in public discourse, they're the most vile and despicable offenders.

I'm no fan of Mike Malloy; never have been. I guess he's just trying to keep up with all the "whiny, vile, uncivil" conservatives on the radio. (Which only reminds me of a quote from Lily Tomlin: "No matter how cynical you get, you can never keep up.")

If a tree falls in an empty forest, does it make a sound? The fact that no one knew about this until it was picked up by a right wing blog says all we need to know about the state of talk radio.

Doesn't make it any more civil. I'd expect the people crying about civility to man up and denounce this, but I guess I was mistaken.

You're the only one keeping score. The listeners don't care who's civil or who's not. A pox on all your houses. Not good for the future of talk radio.

Mike Malloy is an angry guy, if I remember.....

I haven't listened to his show since the flipping of the now-defunct progressive talk station in my metro area, so I don't know what his show is like now. But this sort of hyperbole wouldn't surprise me from recalling the tone of his shows when I used to listen to him.

He would often bring up some interesting news stories and viewpoints on his show. But came across as very angry. With swearing.

Part of me hopes that Malloy tries such a stunt, and that the people openly carrying weapons punch him in the face, repeatedly. Another part of me realizes that's only wishful thinking, and that I don't really want it to happen. But if it did happen that way, it would not make me sad.

This isn't about radio. It's about this board. I don't care what the guy says on the radio. But I'm also not the one crying about lack of civility. The silence of those who do shows their real motives for posting here.
