Diane Sawyer Leaving "World News"

Don't know if I've missed this on another thread but Diane Sawyer has announced she is stepping down as anchor of ABC's "World News" effective in September and will concentrate on specials and interviews. David Muir (no surprise to me, at least) will move over from the weekend editions to become the new anchor weeknights.

It's worth noting (at least to me) that for the first time in years, once again an all-male trio with the nightly news: ABC with Muir, CBS with Pelley, and NBC with Williams..

I wish her all the best! She is a good news anchor. Is this what we would call "semi-retirement" from the Mickey Mouse gang?

I usually avoided watching "World News" after Diane Sawyer became its news presenter after hearing her express her personal feelings about news on a constant basis. Now I would usually avoid all of the network evening news programs to avoid hearing any news presenter or news reporter express his or her personal feelings about news.

Both Walters and Sawyer in the same month. Big blow to ABC. They haven't much work in the talent development business, and someone there should start building a second string pretty quick.

Sawyer intends to move into the role that Baba is vacating. She'll make the same money for less hours. I see this as a boon to Pelley's ratings.

You mean Diane's going to take over "The View?" Oh, no.

Don't assume Diane's pay check or her contract remains unchanged. Don't assume this is voluntary, either.

Maybe a point is being made about what happens to someone who finally conducts a somewhat objective interview.
