Scott Shannon's TOC on WEOK/WALL Ends This Weekend

As you probably know according to what I've posted that in just a few days, TOC will be gone for good. WEOK in Poughkeepsie and WALL in Middletown will be doing its final show this coming Saturday under TOC, and as you've just mentioned before, Scott Shannon is concentrating on doing mornings on WCBS-FM in New York City.

No word on what the format is going to change. I just posted on WEOK/WALL's Facebook page that the new format is going to take over TOC is either CBS Sports Radio, "Good Time Oldies" or a simulcast of WKNY. Townsquare had no comment to say about this change this weekend.

An article from Billboard Biz talks about the True Oldies Channel coming to an end is right here:

The local TOC station switched to Good Time Oldies a couple of weeks ago, but still refers to itself as True Oldies. Some IDs include a frequency that hasn't been used for over six months!

But according to the WEOK/WALL's website where it still listed as Scott Shannon only, but I hope that in just a few days, TOC is going to end this weekend. No word on what the format is going to be.

On the other hand, WALL also has a site http://www.wallhasitall.com and it only has one morning show which is Mark West, but no word on what the announcement on the new format is going to be which is replacing TOC. Stay tuned.

I just tuned to WEOK nd they still have TOC, no word on what the the last day of the station that Scott Shannon is running by maybe this weekend. June 28th will be the last day of TOC on WEOK/WALL. No word on what the format change is going to be. Stay tune.

I just checked out the station that they're running "Super 60's weekend" on TOC as heard on WEOK and WALL. is this going to be the final weekend of playing nothing but 60's. I hope maybe Monday, June 30th is going to be last day of running Scott Shannon's TOC on WEOK and WALL. after that, it will be no more. After TOC leaves the air, there are other stations that still plays oldies. You should check "Fox Oldies", and then WBPM. They do well with playing oldies and classic hits. Those are the two stations that going after them. Thanks to those two stations that are now on FM to fill the void.

WGNY-FM's "Fox Oldies" and WBPM at 92.9 are the two stations as well as Albany's "Magic 590" also did a great job for putting oldies on that station. Jay & Ben did a great morning show as well as Bob Greene and others to the station.

WEOK and WALL will decide to change formats coming after Monday. The True Oldies Channel is the way to say goodbye to this format. Scott Shannon has moved on to focus on doing a successful morning show on WCBS-FM.

And here's is a post from TOC's Facebook page for those of you have now read, here it is.

TOC CH-CH-CHANGES:
Sad to say the company that has distributed the TRUE OLDIES CHANNEL decided to drop us from their lineup. The good news is that the TRUE OLDIES CHANNEL is available ONLINE and it streams 24/7/365 commercial free! Just go to www.TrueOldiesChannel.com and click on the "LISTEN LIVE" button in the upper right corner to hear all your favorite hits from the 60's and 70's, plus a few tossed in from the 80's.

In addition, I am still on the radio! I host a morning show Monday thru Friday 6am-10am (Eastern Time) on one of the top rated radio stations in New York City, WCBS-FM 101.1--- playing the greatest classic hits. For those of you who are not in the area, I hope you'll listen to the "Shannon in the Morning" show online @ www.WCBSFM.com

Thank you SO much for listening, and don't be surprised if the TOC pops up again on your radio sometime soon!

Scott Shannon

That means, WEOK in Poughkeepsie and WALL in Middletown will be doing the last day of TOC starting today. The station will flip formats, but no word on what the new format will be. It's it going to be a simulcast of WKNY or maybe a competitor to WGNY-AM's "Fox 1220 ESPN Radio" which is CBS Sports Radio. Will see what happens.

As of this morning, I hear that WEOK and WALL has dropped the True Oldies Channel big time. It went jockless playing a lot of 50's and early 60's oldies, and I've heard that it says "Your Hudson Valley's Good Time Oldies station." Is this some sort of a change, or perhaps the station will become "Good Time Oldies".

As for the website http://ww.hudsonvalleytrueoldies.com it is still "True Oldies 1390 & 1340" and it still listed as Scott Shannon, and as you know, Scott is out of the picture, he is now doing mornings on WCBS-FM in New York City. But I guess that this site needs to be updated with a new moniker and a new logo and a new site.

I wish if there is a domain site available if they can either choose the following:

www.hudsonvalleygoodtimeoldies.com
www.hvgoodtimeoldies.com

Both of these domain sites is not available at the moment, but I wish if they can bring local DJ's to the station, move Van Ritshie over to WEOK & WALL. He might do middays on the new station, because, "Fox Oldies" tried middays back in March, and it didn't work, so Van moved back to mornings, and bring back Rich Stevens. He does a great job with the station last year, and of course Buffalo Bob Corsino will move to weekends on WEOK and WALL as well as Joe Manglass in the evening. They should bring some of "Fox Oldies" people to WEOK and WALL, except Bob O, he is remaining on that station which is still doing mornings on another station WJGK's "The Fox" at 103.1 with Laurie G. Mark West is still doing mornings on this station WALL and. I guess WEOK will pick up Mark West in there.

All you gotta do, bring local DJ's to the station, and forget the "Good Time Oldies" thing, it will be on weekends on the new station.

And as for WGNY-FM's "Fox Oldies", the station will be eventually changing formats to ESPN Radio along with 1220 AM and it will become "Fox 1220/98.9 ESPN Radio". I have no clue on what is going to change.

And as you know "Fox Oldies" is going to stink, and I don't listen to the station anymore. I rather listen to WROW's "Magic 590" which is a much better station than "Fox Oldies", because it's in Albany. Sunrise needs to change formats in the future, and "Fox Oldies" will be on WJGK's HD3 only and it is going to be all automated.

I hope WEOK and WALL will bring local jocks to the station. Let's hope.

It would be interesting to see what goes on WEOK-WALL and WPLJ HD 2...right now WPLJ HD 2 is off the air.

When I was listening to the station, I hear a bunch of sweepers where they are saying "We're going fox hunting" and "We're chasing that tired old fox back into the woods" and all that stuff. This means it is going to hurt WGNY-FM's "Fox Oldies" at 98.9. This is going to hurt the station big time. Why don't we another oldies station after TOC ended? My guess is WGNY-FM like I said needs to flip to ESPN Radio to get a better signal range at 98.9 and it would reach a great sports audience for people who are interested in sports.

As for "Fox Oldies", it's boring and it's not even that good, but "Magic 590" in Albany which is WROW sounds a lot better with better DJ's. To get right into it, WEOK and WALL needs local DJ's. Van Ritshie, Joe Manglass and Buffalo Bob Corsino is available to the AM dial. And let's bring back Rich Stevens to afternoon drive and Mark West from WALL, it should go to WEOK.

"Fox Oldies" and the two stations WEOK and WALL needs to do something. I heard it during the day, it is commercial free. The station needs to update the website.

Yes! Facebook hasn't been updated yet. I just posted the announcement on WEOK/WALL's Facebook page yesterday that the station no longer carries TOC.

Look at the following links:

http://www.hudsonvalleytrueoldies.com
http://www.wallhasitall.com

These two hasn't updated yet. The first link where it takes you to a site, and the station's logo hasn't been changed since the last few months and it still says "True Oldies 1390 & 1340" and on the DJ section, it still listed as Scott Shannon. And Like I said, Scott is no longer with TOC anymore, there is also a web stream only where you can listen to it commercial free at www.trueoldieschannel.com Scott is now focusing on doing mornings on WCBS-FM, and he does a great job keeping it going after exiting the True Oldies Channel.

And on the second link, it shows Mark West do mornings only on WALL, and there is a stream only, but it only hears repeats of. Mark West's show. I wish these two sites including the first site needs to be updated, Townsquare needs to do something with 1340 and 1390. Update the site.
