Hannity back in boston on 1510 WUFC.

A big step down. A tree falling in an empty forest. I'm sure too many commercials is not something this kind of marginal operation needs to worry about.

Who knew?

I honestly was unaware he was absent. Though he was somewhere.

Off and on. The show debuted 9/10/01 and was delayed on WRKO. A yr later
he was replaced by Savage and they said they wanted a
live or almost live show what w news events like the
Beltway Sniper.
He was carried many yrs on WTKK delayed (and when
Severin was on vacation, Sean ran live). For a time
he was on short lived Salem talk stations like 1150
and possibly 890.
Finally he was on CC's Rush Radio/Talk 1200
when that was on, Mar of 2010 till Aug of 2012

Rather listen to 12 minutes of commercials than 1 minute of that Hibernian BIGOT.

You are certainly free to....cuz it's all about you isn't it?

But, like most of your posts and accusations, you've nothing to back it up.

How so? He wasn't heard anywhere in Boston before this.

As head headline says "back on the air in Boston." Finally found a perch, a weak stick at the high-end of the band with dozens of listeners.

Tuned in Monday and he was on but he quickly gave way to a certain
politician of Kenyan-American heritage droning on and
on. Tired of his voice, I opted to "Change" the station.

The same politician is also - equally - of Irish-American heritage, just like Hannity.

And let's not overlook the fact that both Sean and Rush took "a big step down" in NYC when they moved from WABC to CC's WOR. Besides the obvious (i.e., CC now owns WOR), WABC's signal has much farther reach. Both Sean and Rush were on WABC since their respective early days. I'd bet Cumulus is not blameless here, either, but CC plays strongarm to keep its programming in the family, even its signal(s) are inferior to those of their competitors (cf. Rush 1200 in Boston vs 680 WRKO).

Someone else on one of these boards said it best: 1510 with its dozens of listener.

" Dozens of listeners"???? That's about 8 more than they actually have. Guess it all depends if the listeners' care givers and bed pan nurses can turn the radio on for them....

Looking at the other eight top ten markets (in addition to Boston and New York)...

In Houston and Atlanta he's still on the leading talk station and scheduled in afternoon drive (two hours in Atlanta). He's also on the leading talk station in Philly but bumped to late evening.

In the other five top ten markets he is relegated to the second or third commercial political talk station, including three stations with factional audience shares (.4 -.6) and two the don't buy the book. In three of these markets, he's on Salem.

As I say, he's taken a big step down. He used to follow Rush on the right-wing talk flame throwers around the country. Rush seems mostly to have held onto those prime affiliates but not Hannity.

Rush and Hannity may well be making much less come next contract, but they did sign for big bucks...maybe some stations opted for Michael Savage, delayed Dennis Miller etc Dozens of listeners? Tell that to Premiere.

>>The nature of syndication contracts don’t give Premiere the freedom to walk away—it is already paying, no matter who airs the shows. Hannity’s 2008 contract with Premiere was valued at about $20 million per year, according to AdWeek. Limbaugh’s is particularly dear, with a 2008 deal that amounts to $50 million a year until 2017. Here’s how Limbaugh described his value to the New York Times a few years ago: “My first goal is to attract the largest possible audience so I can charge confiscatory ad rates.”..The stars of talk radio love the free market. It’s time to see if its famous efficiency comes to cut their paychecks.

How's Air America doing? :) (I know, long gone.)

It did about as well overall as a lot of those stations which now carry Hannity, but I don't see the right or the industry rushing to brand Hannity, Salem or those second and third tier Clear Channel stations as "failures." I wonder if you all will be gloating when right-wing talk is gone, too.

I wonder if that's because Clear Channel owns a major news/talk in most of some of those markets.... (Boston is one of Clear Channel's smaller markets....with 2 big FM's, and a couple of crappy signals.)

He used to follow Rush on the right-wing talk flame throwers around the country. Rush seems mostly to have held onto those prime affiliates but not Hannity.

I also wonder if this is because Limbaugh has never been a drive-time show.....and therefor fills the midday gap that many stations have, as they would not spend money on a local midday show. Hannity on the other hand is a drive-time show, and half the spots go to the network...so he better perform....or he's apt to be replaced a little more quickly.

Sean Hannity returns to Boston.

Boston’s big talk stations have traditionally shied away from syndicated programming and that’s created an opening for Wallis Communications’ one-month old talk outlet WUFC (1510). It has signed a deal with Premiere Networks to clear Sean Hannity’s afternoon drive show, a move that returns the conservative talker to the market where he earlier aired on Clear Channel’s “Talk 1200” WXKS.

Billed as the station “Where Liberty Has A Voice,” WUFC already carries several other syndicated hosts, including Glenn Beck, Jay Mohr and J.T. “The Brick” from Premiere, and Westwood One’s Dennis Miller. WUFC is programmed and operated by Wallis under a lease agreement with Blackstrap Broadcasting. Since a split with Cumulus Media, Hannity’s show has changed affiliates in dozens of markets since the start of the year.

Clear Channel does not have to play "strong arm." They own the show. They own stations. They put the show on their own stations.

WOR has a stronger signal most places than WABC. Back when AM ruled, WOR was consistently in the top five in the Philadelphia market (never WABC, even before WFIL went top 40).
