92,5 kbes xt 40?

I remember it being automated Top 40 as KFKF FM in 1972 before it became KBES as a Middle of the Road format. Also when it became KZAM it was a mixture of Top 40 and album cuts. The DJ's didn't talk on air, but you could call and make a request to a live person and they would put it on. Then it switched to a progressive format shortly after that.

KZAM in the '70s initially had a mostly female airstaff at one time and a mostly acoustic format. Then after Sandusky bought them, went to to an Adult Rock format before becoming AC KLSY in 1983. KZAM was NEVER a Top 40 station or played anything CLOSE to it.

When did Monte Strohl own the station?

Early '60s I believe. Always funny how 92.5 started out as KZAM, then KFKF, KBES and then BACK to KZAM in the mid '70s with the then-ownership and management swearing they had NEVER heard of the earlier KZAM on that frequency.....

Sorry. I should have noted that when KZAM was a mixture of Top 40 and album cuts it was only for a little while in 1975. "You're No Good" by Linda Ronstadt, then "Stormbringer" by Deep Purple, then "Autobahn" by Kraftwerk. It must have been an interim format until they put together an air staff for the acoustic-progressive format that KZAM is famous for.
