Major Change For My Station - Hello WABC!

As of 3:15 p.m. EDT today, my Live365 station has become a tribute station for WABC. I have the following:

1- Clean, licensed copies of the jingles.
2- The best software emulation of plate reverb my computer can run.
3- Audio processing that to my ears, has a very 70s AM sound to it.

As always, comments are welcomed. I think I have just the right amount of reverb but if it's too much or not enough, say so, please. Some shows will be uploaded and some will run in live mode. Of the first 32 songs played, 30 are mono mixes and 2 are fold-downs from stereo.

The cuts I'm truly proud to present include the mono single mixes of "Thank You (Falettinme Be Mice Elf Agin)", "Mercy Mercy Me (The Ecology)" and "Let's Live For Today" (the original uncensored version, no less).

I know that streaming audio at 128k is less then ideal so I will soon also be presenting full shows in 320k format on Mixcloud, details to follow. I know there are hundreds of stations to listen to, please give mine a try and see if you like it. Enjoy radio as it was meant to be!

Well, so far, so good. I've picked up some new listeners and after looking at the song ratings and retention, dropped a few records from the regular rotation. Tomorrow, I will be in live mode from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. EDT with six hours of recorded shows. Those will then become a new basic playlist on Friday while I do another set of shows, and that pattern will be followed down the line. Some of the 45s I'm proud to present in this set of songs include the mono single mixes of "What's Going On", "But It's Alright". and "The Rain, The Park & Other Things". I am still checking out Mixcloud, as well as a streaming service that I can stream at a bit rate of 256k with. That entails an additional expense, of course. Two expenses, actually, the streaming and the additional licensing. Never fear, higher quality audio will be available soon.

"Let's Live For Today" (the original uncensored version, no less).

Might be more interesting to play the rarer single version with the alternate lyrics instead, it's probably what the real WABC played back in the day.

Another update:

Nothing done the last few days with the station as I've been not feeling well but am better now and a three-hour show is ready. Just to make life interesting, Breakaway Live was acting up on me, seems to have not liked the Windows update I took. A quick restore and all is well on that end. Said show will run live later today, probably from 5 till 8 p.m. EDT or thereabouts. It will also be processed for upload to Live365 for basic mode. Has anyone here heard the any of the shows in basic mode, and if so, have any comments on the audio processing used for that part of things? I can stick with what I've been using or try something else if there are any serious issues with the current setup.

Before I forget, this week is spotlighting hits from 1964, so expect some goodies from that year to pop up. In closing, I just want to say that I am having a BLAST doing this. It's the most challenging online broadcasting I've ever attempted but the challenge is part of the fun.

I just uploaded a two-hour show, recorded with Breakaway Live using the CGSmooth preset. ALL audio will now be processed this way as I managed to find a media player (Audacious) that has very clean sound on it and low CPU usage. I had Breakaway running, Audacious running, and was using Audacity to record the music and with all that, never went over 70% on CPU. Also, I started a Twitter account at https://twitter.com/77AMRadio and any time a new show is uploaded, or running in live mode, or I have something to say, I will tweet accordingly.

Wishing all a good day and letting you know I will be running in live mode from 1 p.m till 9 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time today. Four hours of recorded shows with seventy-one records with no repeats, and the last thirty-five records are all mono mixes. It took me, to be honest, a good six weeks to get my announcing skills back up to speed but I feel I really caught a good groove these last two nights.

I was actually thinking of doing the same thing for a heritage Boston station with possibly some former station air talent either recording shows or doing them live. My question is where can I find licensed jingles and sweeps for a certain station, during a certain time period/format?
