Kickin' 94.5 / Streetz 94.5

So, earlier this year it was announced Steve Hegwood's Core Communicators bought WIPK, KICKIN' 94.5 Calhoun,GA. Steve operates STREETZ 94.5 here locally along with OLD SCHOOL 1010AM. I haven't heard much about the sale of the Calhoun station since it was announced. I'm wondering if this was done to add coverage here to STREETZ 94.5 in Atlanta or potentially try to move 94.5 into the Chattanooga market?

The seller agreed to an extension for closing on the station to September 2, 2014. Information on the FCC website state the reason is to allow the buyer more time to pay the purchase price.

Seeing that there's a construction permit for the translator to allow for better coverage in the northern part of town, you could be correct that WIPK would move closer to Chattanooga, and for Core Communications to program the Streetz format on a full power station going up the Interstate 75 corridor on the Georgia-Tennessee border.

Thanks Firebird61. Wow, I predict this all will end with Chattanooga gaining a new Urban station giving POWER 94 some much needed competition. This is if Core has the funds to buy WIPK and if they intend on moving the signal into the Chattanooga area. This can also simply be a move made just to gain more coverage for STREETZ 94.5 and keep the current format and signal on KICKIN 94.5?? This is very interesting.

Unless they plan a frequency move for WIPK then it can not move in to Chattanooga since Power 94 is a first adjacent signal.
