Cumulus' Nash Icon format might come at 3pm

Today Cumulus is launching a classic recurrent based country music format and Radio Insight just tweeted that Atlanta is expected to get such a station. I wonder that means 97.9 is getting the new format because I doubt Kicks would flip to this (I would expect them to go with the regular NASH FM station). I don't think that 106.7 98.9 or 100.5 would flip but I do expect that 106.7 will ditch its format in the future since news/talk on FM is not working (WSB is not even where they were and there is no room for a news/talk 106.7). So far only one potential Nash Icon station has started stunting. But it also appears the real most powerful sports talk FM station in the south serving Savannah will also be flipping to the NASH ICON format.

I see right after I post that it launches early here in Atlanta. I probably can only get that 98.9 in my car.

I cant call this classic country or gold so I may just have to called it country on my radio station listings. I wish they would have put this on 97.9 instead and let the oldies fans keep their station.

I just reread the original post. Maybe one of the other stations mentioned will flip to GTO or Classic Hits? Or maybe even a locally broadcast station along those lines. I would miss 106.7 for the news, but not the talk.

I see they throw on Kenny Rogers so maybe country AC the best of the 80s to now. Similar to the kicks attempt to be the 90s to now. Coward of the County hit number in early 1980.

I see I was right about the former biggest FM sports talker in south as the big 102.1 in Savannah just made the flip to NASH ICON. They already have a regular NASH FM there also.

I grew up listening to 102.1(WZAT). I think that it was top 40's at the time. Used to be the main FM station

I'm confused on the 102.1 WZAT. WJCL 96.5 is already a country format 100k watts in Savannah. Are they saying Savannah Cumulus is going to have two Nash 100k watt stations? I'm so confused and the Southern Georgia board is nothing more than an Obituary and Scam alert board.

I have heard one 80s tune from Juice Newton but after an hour it sounds similar to 98.9 here in Atlanta with 90s the 00s and currents.

they just cut into a Glen Campbell song from 1977 to run a promo then played a current

Can't believe Cumulus put classic country on a 100k watt frequency and called it Nash while having a modern country station also 100k watt and also called Nash.

I'm so confused.

I do not think that Cumulus knows what it is doing. On the radio or otherwise. I found out about it by them posting a note on the FB page. THey said that you could still listen to the oldies by clicking the link up top. Of course that was wrong. On top of that , it gave people room to complain to the station about the switch. So they delete that post. Naturally, people started posting on the next available post. That one was posted a few hours, before the switchover. Why even bother??? The smart thing to do, would have been to take down the FB page and start a new one for NASH. Seems like they did the same thing when then flipped from WALK. No Brains.

NASH Icon (102.1) is Country classics.
Just saw this posted by a friend on FB. At least 102.1 went out classy and actually thanked its listeners.
"Thank you for making us a part of your sports world the past 4 years. We can't thank you enough. Those looking to get their sports talk fix can now listen to AM 900 The Ticket. " Why couldn't they have said thank you to Atlanta???

Another Country station in this market is like having 3 shoes. One for the right foot and two for the left.

We'd all like to meet the crew that THOUGHT this out......while they were downing shots of tequila at the Olive Garden.
