CBS forgot "Unforgettable" on August 10

That's in the East.

I had TiVo set to tape at the usual time. I also added an hour in case of a football delay.

I saw the ticking clock at the time the show was supposed to begin. At the time it was supposed to end, the ticking clock again. Then "Big Brother". I prerpared to tape the news and the infomercial that followed. I got the news.

What happened in the West?

They didn't forget anything. They decided not to run "Unforgettable" and "Reckless." Both had new episodes, which CBS saved for another night.

You Tivo infomercials???

Now that you mention this, I will reiterate a point I made some time ago: In Europe broadcasters encode program information in the signals and DVRs are able to know exactly when programs begin and end - and even if there are last minute changes like this. They have it; we don't. Instead we are supposed to pad recordings (if possible) and/or check channels running sports to see what they are actually doing and make changes manually. And Tivos are supposed to take care of recordings automatically - not!

Since Nielsen now counts DVR viewing within three or seven days, broadcasters have every incentive to accommodate DVR users - unless what they and cable systems intend to do is encourage on-demand viewing (in which fast forward can be disabled).

The episodes you missed that were preempted after Rory McIlroy won the PGA Championship after a long and dramatic finale at Valhalla WILL air this Sunday. CBS made the announcement Tuesday afternoon and also said that the shows’ season finales would be announced at a later date.

CBS' twitter feed had at least three updates....first a delayed airing, then more delay, then finally, no shows.

Does anyone know what happened in the Pacific and Mountain time zones?

The announcements made after the golf match ran over did not say anything about different programming or timing in the West (as they usually do when football games run late). Since these were first run episodes of "Unforgettable" and "Reckless" and since "Reckless" is a serialized drama, it would not make sense for CBS to run those shows when most of the country would not see them. So, the question is how did CBS fill the third and fourth hour of prime time?

In Denver, 60 Minutes normally starts at 6pm. The Golf coverage ended at 7pm, so Mountain stations would only need one additional hour of programming before stating the late news at its regular 10pm time.
