CBS FM imaging: time for change

With the 60's (almost) gone from CBS FM, and with a move to a more classic Z100-like 80's station isn't it about time to change the imaging also more 80's-like? The current imaging remembered more from the time that the 60's are still there and also from the time before CBS flipped to Jack FM. So in my opinion it's about time for a change. What are your thoughts about that?

I would imagine that the station has a plan for refreshing the image, but likely it is tempered by a "if it ain't broke don't fix it" attitude.

A new PD can sometimes mean new imaging. But new imaging is expensive, and needs to wait for the next budget cycle. So it may take til next year.

The station actually has gradually revamped its imaging over the last few years, to the point where it currently bears little resemblance to the pre-Jack sound. They've got edgier-sounding sweepers voiced by Earl Mann and another new voice, who seem to have completely displaced their long-standing imaging voice Ziggie Pelzer. And they are also using re-sings of 80's Z100 jingles. Granted, they are mixed in with the 70's WABC re-singss they got in 2008, but since they're still playing plenty of 70's music, I think that makes sense. (Plus WPLJ used some of those jingles in the 80's anyway.)

I do remember Ziggy a lot, because he does a great job at CBS-FM for many years when it was a oldies as well as a greatest hits station since it's return in 2007 until he left when they brought in an Ernie Anderson-type voiceover. Earl Mann is now in charge. Ziggy has been doing voiceovers and imaging on so many oldies stations not just CBS-FM, he is still on WROW's "Magic 590" in Albany, he does a tremendous job with the oldies format as well as imaging and sweepers along with a series of CBS-FM-like jingles from JAM's "Do It Again" and "Home of the Hits" jingle packages. I enjoyed the station a lot more than WGNY-FM's "Fox Oldies" which is also a terrible radio station which had Van Ritshie in mornings which is terrible and he is still in his 70's. He was doing middays back in March and then moved back in mornings the following month and it was still terrible, Bob O sounded okay after he did morning with Laurie G on WJGK's "Fox 103.1" after he did a reasonable morning show on "Fox Oldies" since March with Laurie G and moved back the following month. It was a waste of time, except the "All-Request Drive-Thru" where they played old recordings from previous shows while voice-tracking. I hate the voice-tracking which is still bad, and let's not forget Buffalo Bob Corsino and Joe Manglass, they both stink! And in addition, the "Fox Oldies" PAMS jingles sucks, but I preferred the "Magic 590" jingles a lot better than "Fox Oldies" jingles and the playlist is ridiculously small when "Fox Oldies" had is about 500 to a thousand song with too much classic rock and too much 50's and 60's music that CBS-FM used to played many years ago, but now, the 60's are almost wiping out the face of the planet to bring in 60's audience to "Fox Oldies" and "Magic 590" where it now plays pre-1972 music, but it's not pre-1964 anymore, it's pre-1972.

As for the liners, they sounded a lot like Ernie Anderson, the longtime voiceover for the ABC-TV promos back in the 70's and 80's.
