How's that Nash thing workin' out Lew? Lame morning show. Maybe OK for Little Rock, but dead on the vine in NYC. Compare the image of "Nash," (and now "Nash Icon," whatever the hell that means to the average listener) to CC's "Bull." Not much of a contest. Fail.

As I've said in previous threads, country doesn't have much heritage in NYC. They could have Scott Shannon hosting the morning show and it would get a 2. Same with LA.

With regards to The Bull, it's too bad CC doesn't have a place for it in NYC. The "young country" concept is really taking hold.

one of the last todd shows I heard was the summer blast off. They had some supposedly hit country star on the air who was brought in by Nash.
The song was so stereo typical, I expected a yee haw in there. NY'ers just can't relate to songs about trailers, and pick up trucks, or really be expected to care. want country, go online where it can probably be done better.

I also find it interesting that WPLJ is not only stabalizing, but going up since they reduced the Todd Show to almost nothing. my guess is it'll be gone by December. Can't help but wonder if they'll rebrand all their station by either eliminating the expensive shows and just going mostly music, if the ratings went up when the morning show got reduced to nothing.

Whenever anybody uses the old "Well they sold out MSG" argument. I always say, so did Dispatch and for 3 nights.
Who is Dispatch? EXACTLY!

Madison Sq Garden is a destination point. People will plan a trip to the big apple to see anybody. From NJ to Cali. You can't judge a lot from selling out MSG.

Once a month, somebody you never heard of sells out MSG!

Nash [sup]*Service Mark really dumb name[/sup] could be a niche format for a station in America's #1 MSA, but it's doubtful Cumulus will accept such an ascription. Selling out the Garden? Shouldn't be a problem given the station's cume and the population base within the signal contour. It would be revealing to know where the station ranks Adults 25-49. Does it even break the Top 10?

Well last month NASH was 17th in 25-54 & 15th 18-49.

Asking a country station without a full reaching signal in NY to go top 10 in those cats in 2014 seems to be asking alot.

I don't think that's the goal. They have 2 million cume. That's a sellable number. Plus an exclusive on a hot format in the #1 market. Clear Channel can't do it.

The funny thing is, the people who criticize Nash likely know nothing about Country music to begin with. I've been a country fan for over 10 years. Say what you want, but Nash actually sounds pretty good. I don't like the morning show as it leans too female oriented, but the music overall sounds great. Their imaging has gotten better over the last few months. There seems to be a recent push to promote the station. I saw a new billboard pop up on the Garden State Parkway near exit 143 and I've seen ads on NYC taxis. I'd say a 2.0 rating in this market is pretty darn good for a country station.

That doesnt make any sense....then how come blake shelton sold out msg.

seriously? Country 92.5 in Hartford promotes country concerts in New York and there is no shortage of country listeners on the Jersey Shore, PA, CT, etc. All within driving distance.
Doesn't mean New Yorkers are actually standing around MSG screaming for Blake.

I know a few people here in north nj that went & since this thread is NY ratings & since north nj falls into that ny market dma yea new yorkers did go.

As you know, WRWD and "The Wolf" which is in the Hudson Valley along with "Real Country" at 1260 and 1420 AM in Newburgh, Beacon and Peekskill all promoting the Blake Shelton concert at MSG. CJ is still promoting it during his morning show on "The Wolf" as well as Beth Christy during the rest of the day.

The NY radio market is so large that it doesn't matter if anyone in NYC is listening to Nash. There are enough suburban listeners in NJ, NY, LI, and CT to support the station. The same can be said for stations like PLJ. It has always been known that their audience is primarily suburban women and the station has billed well.

which is why most of the events take place in NJ as well.

Does Nash bill well? Do NY-NJ clients spend money on a station that doesn't break the top ten in the target audience? What kind of results do the clients see?

I'm surprised that Nash actually gets numbers on Long Island. I thought the signal was really poor out there. I mean, they are getting a 1.7. Not awful. Fresh, with a full signal into that market, is getting about the same.
