KJIC 90.5 airing mostly dead air

KJIC 90.5

Have been listening for almost 30 minutes now. Don't normally listen to this station but I was bored (and insomniac) and scanning the frequencies and noticed silence.

All but ~3 minutes have been dead air (well, as dead as you can get, with some kind of 10 Hz beat and other static).

The 3 minutes of content have been, I assume, syndicated segments of some sort, but not obviously religious.

Situation is identical on their web stream, complete with the 10 Hz beats.

Got bored and measured the beat and it's exactly 10 Hz too, except for a few skips.

Posting this now but I'll be up until 3 am to see if they do a legal ID or not.

Failed to air legal ID at 3 AM.

Oh well?

This is inside the "experimental period" where stations can make adjustments and test equipment. The 10 kHz tone is likely used to set levels or part of the broadcast of tones of various frequencies to test frequency response of the broadcast system.

While IDs are required during test, it is not uncommon for the engineer to not do them at precise times, particularly if they are busy doing adjustments or fixing something.

He said 10 Hz, not 10 kHz David.....I personally know of few if any stations that do proofs or audio testing anymore at night...(Ok, there is WION and their AM Stereo tweaks once in a while...but that's it! )

I have listened to this station before and they play some cool sounding Gospel music. I imagine it's fixed. I at least hope so.
Remember it was the middle of the night, so perhaps nobody was there to know about the problems.

Fixed

All of these problems have been fixed. We have left the company who was hosting our streams and are now always on.

Now here's a station we don't typically discuss. The mighty King Jesus is Coming from Santa Fe (no, not New Mexico, for those outsiders peering in). Correct me if I'm wrong, and that's certainly been known to happen, but is KJIC running 36kW these days? I have better luck picking up the Gulf Coast Rocker, with their puny 5.6kW, than I have ever had with KJIC, coming from the same area.
