Is WFLL 1400 on the air?

Is WFLL 1400 on the air? Does anyone know what the status is? Are they still on the long wire in Pompano with 250 watts? Any news on the JCL Chapter 11?

. . . an excellent question. I was also thinking about JCR and 640 WMEN/WFTL in passing, regarding the changes at 960 Seaview and 93.5 Radio Lobo, and Sugar 900.

I wondered what was up with 1400 WFLL as well, then seen Mike's question. So, I was driving out west in Parkland and Coral Springs north on the Sawgrass heading to the turnpike and 1400 always came in clear. I can’t hear it now, either. But I was pretty far out west, so I don't know. I checked out the Nossa Radio website and it still lists 1400 as an affiliate along with their Boston outlet at 1570.

Does anyone know if 850 is licensed for 5kwD/1kw and what happened to the construction permit to increase to 50kw . . . I haven't kept up with it. Anyone got the latest scoop?

And as Mike asked, what is up with the Chapter 11 and have they gone into receivership. Will the receiver/does the receiver run the stations, or will the receiver sell the stations? Will the stations be sold off, so that all of JCR's creditors get paid because of their recent bankruptcy? Be nice if someone could explain that business and financial end of the radio biz on this one.

850 has been 50k for about 12 years. 640 turned in their upgrade to 50k about 4 years ago. Their COL was to be changed to Boca Raton, but they are back to using Royal Palm Beach on the air. I think they are running at 25kw now with an STA

The last story that was floating around was that WFTL 850 was going to loose half its coverage under an FCC ruling because WACC 830 in Hialeah won approval for their power increase from 1kw to 5 kw. WFTL from what I read, is licensed for 5kwD/1kwN, but operates on an STA for the pass 16 years for that 50 kw. Since 1999, they've had a construction permit since 1999 to increase to 50kw; but have never gotten approval/can't get approval . . . again, because of 830's winning approval for its power increase.

Yeah, I forgot about that. The turning in their 50 kw upgrade and the STA for the reduced 25kw, and the city of license change. However, they're licensed for 7500 Watts-D / 460 Watts-N. So, that will probably be cut back like WFTL has been/will be.

Answered my own (and Mike's question), with the thread "On going problems for james crystal radio (wftl, wmen, wfll)".

In reading the information on the thread On Going Problems For James Crystal Radio . . . haven't they infact did exactly what the court papers for the bankruptcy said they would do? 1400 has been completely devalued. It has no physical building, no studios, no transmitter, no tower. Its a wire strung across a parking lot. At this point, 1400 is only a station (barely) on paper. There's no value, there is nothing to buy. Anyone who takes it over has to start from scratch and construct studios, buy land, construct towers, purchase a transmitter. And JCR got away with it. What did they was willfull, purposeful, and in my opinion, criminal. Am I wrong? And there are the JCR team going on their merry way with no legal repercussions, continuing to run the station. Where is the FCC. Why isn't the license pulled. How can they still be in charge of three stations with all this going on?
