would beasley bring talk to 610

Once again CTCAM was pre-emptied all weekend for those rotton infomercials. WIP should have Rush, Hannity, Levin and Beck and CTCAM 7 nights a week and run the best of Art Bell on the weekends beginning at 9pm like many CTCAM affiliates do. 1210 should be stripped of Hannity for messing with his time-slot, and CTCAM for constantly screwing with their time. One night last week after the 4am news, they put yet another informercial on, instead of running the last hour of the show, which was getting good, so again I had to suffer through WWVA. I cannot understand why they insist on ruining this popular program. 610 should be the new home of CTCAM, they should also add Ground Zero before CTCAM. WILM is the perfect local station to hear both shows, they do it right but at night forget it. If 1210 wants to mess with their programs just unload them to another station, WIP would be the perfect set up if Beasley decides to make them full time talk. But then again Beasley could have a music format on their minds like a Soft Rock/Standards combo.

I'm in favor for 610 AM going talk, but I think the WIP calls will leave 610 AM, since I think CBS owns the calls.

All depends on the deal they make. The calls may go with the license since the rules no longer require the same calls (in different bands) to be on co-owned stations. Nobody really owns "calls." CBS used to hold "WCAU." Now NBC does.

I'm not sure you would want Beasley to do talk on 610. In Las Vegas, they have a 50kw blowtorch talk station on 720, the best AM signal in the market. They run a local AM drive show, but the rest of the day is either syndicated or time-brokered. They have time-brokered stuff 9am to noon, and from 7pm to midnight or later weekdays and pretty much all weekend. The stations typically has a 0.3 to 0.5 share.

"Strip" 1210 of Hannity? Premiere could only get it on the air at all because they tied him to Rush. The compromise in the deal was 1210 had to run it, but got to delay it. Each side gives a little, gets a little.

And if 1210 keeps talk, and Rush...then what would there be for 610 to build around? Maybe they could get Hannity and perhaps Levin from 990..but what else? With a good enough deal, it might be a wash, and they could fill the rest with brokered stuff. Or they could just sell the full day and not try to mix approaches in some weird hybrid.

I'm thinking the WWDB calls and lineup slide to 610 from 860. Then another entity could have 860. I'm thinking WTMR stays as is.

Not the current WWDB, but the station on 96.5 from 1975 to 2000 was a great talk station, the kind of talk station that doesn't exist anymore with an all local line up and a mix of liberals, moderates and conservatives. Wynn Moore,Frank Ford,Irv Homer.Dominic Quinn. Great hosts. I would love to see a nice programmed talk station on 610 or some kind of older music format. of course oldies and standards would skew 55 plus, but on the other hand how many people under 45 even listen to AM?

610 is a great signal wasted with CBS Sports. Besides 1210 and 1060, 560 and 950 are good signals with very few listeners, but when you run religious programming ratings don't matter.

I think Beasley is going to sell all 3 AMs to someone else. It doesn't make sense to stay in Philly with just 3 AMs. Hello Harold Camping? Oh, yeah, that's right.

Yeah there's only so much to talk about. We have so far in the philly market 710 WOR 770 WABC 830 WEEU 860 WWDB 900 WURD 920 WCHR 990 WNTP 1150 WDEL 1180 WFYL 1210 WPHT 1360 WNJC 1450 WWXT (or something like that) 1540 WNWR. Please, don't add more of the same talk on 610. Enough is enough.

That doesn't sound good at all.

A) why would I want 'local' ? I want NATIONAL. I want to hear about the issues effecting everyone. Local isn't all that interesting. Get a local morning show, then go national the rest of the day.
B) I don't need liberal talk. If I want to hear what liberals think, I need only watch any TV station at all with the sole exception of Fox. Liberals already have the strangle hold. Fox news and Talk Radio are the only forms of the media that conservatives have a hold of.
