Was reading this post on another board about JCR and WFTL (wow, it’s a good read, tells you everything you need know), but I got curious and when surfing. Found this info that hasn’t been mentioned . . . .

Two Supreme Court of the State of New York County of New York “Memoradum of Law in Support of Plaintiff’ motion to appoint a post-judgement receiver.

There is one from 3/14/2013 and one from 7/30/2013. Just a piece of the one from 7/30/2013 says . . .

“The plantiffs have uncovered extensive and irrefutable evidence that the Defendants (James Crystal Radio) are operating their business with a total disregard for the Plantiff’s collateral, defendant’s own employees, and even the temporary restraining order entered by this court.”

And . . .

“Defendants operation of their business is haphazard, bereft of appropriate controls and thus confirms a probably likelihood that the stations (WFTL 850, WMEN 640, WFLL 1400) may ‘go dark’ and even stop broadcasting sufficiently to maintain the licenses . . . .”

And that’s just a tip of the ice berg to this 24 page document from 7/30/2013. I don’t see anything more recent than that online. Enjoy your read. BTW, there is a lively older discussion on this board, Radio Discussions, Bad times, sad times for WFLL 1400 the old WFTL with great info as well.

None of this surprises, at all. Well, there were few things I hadn't heard of until reading this, but not suprised by it.

But I did notice this post/these posts didn't mention Rich Steven's of WFTL faking a newscast that dubed NBC Nightly News. Of course, the management didn't do anything wrong. . . . as usual. http://ftvlive.com/todays-news/2014/2/27/nbc-news-fooled-by-fake-radio-report.

I did notice that JCR has employed Derek Hayward from Channel 7. Which is sad when you go from Channel 7 to a bankrupt company that can't make payroll. And having to deal with the Angophile insults about his British accent being an asset, and Karen Curtis poking on air fun at his pronouncing words. Derek deserves better than that.

What's sad is that James Crystal only seems to hire people that have nowhere else to go. When you used to be a star and now you're lower than Kathy Griffin's "D-list," go to Jim Hilliard, George Johns and Steve Lapa. One of them will hire you.

WFLL 1400 might as well be off the air. 250 watts on a long wire strung up in a parking lot isn't going to go very far. All because they lost their transmitter site. It doesn't get much sadder than that.

I tried to pick up 1400 the other day. I was north of downtown Fort Lauderdale. I could barely hear it. I'm sure there is something illegal about how they are operating that station. Where is the wire located?

It's in the parking lot of the group that is operating under an LMA on Sample Road, I forget exactly where. It has been operating with temporary approval from the FCC, I'm not sure the application was correct. A friend of mine drove by there and it raised some doubts. They can't do anything until the FCC lifts a freeze on them for not paying their FCC fees. So legal or not there it is, a real mess!

I hope they are paying JCR about $.50 a day for that LMA. It's not worth much more than that.

Actually, it would be funny if they stopped paying them! What would JCR do? Sue them? LOL! Take back the signal? --and put what on it?

The group with the LMA is Nossa Radio at http://www.nossaradiousa.com/. They're also on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/nossaradiousa/info?ref=page_internal. The "asphalt transmitter is at 1261 E Sample Rd, Pompano Beach, FL 33064. You can get a peak into the studios at Sample Road on You Tube at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HhmwLxDut4g. Clearly that is NOT the JCR studios. . . .

Thing is, the Nossa Group not radio people, so it be easy for JCR to screw them. They probably don't even know they're running at 250 w vs. 1000. The Portuegese group doing this LMA is the same group that bought some chunks of airtime from JCR on 1040 WLVJ. So, its in the time honored tradititions of JCR recycling the same thing over and over and over again.

Speaking of the people on the air, I assume they are getting paid now? I would also assume JCR is paying payroll taxes to the IRS?

640 has been taking a lot of hits.

They lost Orlando Alzugary to 560 WQAM, lost Andy Slater to 940 WINZ. And with JCR bankruptcy issues, couldn’t enforce any non-completes, so there goes any audience they had with Big O or Slater to other stations .

You have Dan Sileo crash and burn . . . http://www.radiodiscussions.com/showthread.php?656791-Sileo-Fired-Again from WMEN. Remember, this was the guy who attacked Erin Andrews on the air with a bad taste porn comment and suspended from 790 http://www.radiodiscussions.com/sho...-Sileo-Suspended-For-Going-After-Erin-Andrews , and still got hired by WMEN.

Sid Rosenberg gets a DUI arrest . . .
http://www.radiodiscussions.com/sho...-Rosenberg-One-Year-Anniversary-At-640-Sports

Now, the just hired Steve White for the 3 to 7 shift arrested and fired http://gossipextra.com/2014/11/01/steve-white-wqam-arrested-theft-gino-torretta-4160/

Now, as of November 13, 2014, Joe Raineri, the old morning host from WRMF http://southfloridasport.blogspot.com/2014/11/joe-raineri-interim-wmen-afternoon-host.html, but that’s only after they had someone named Jon Linder in the spot for a couple months until October.

Man (Talk), that is rough going. Plus, 640 lost/turned in its upgrade to 50 K, went to 25 K on an STA. Now, they lost that and are licensed to 7500 Watts-D/460-N http://transition.fcc.gov/fcc-bin/amq?call=WMEN.

Ouch.

What's truly sad about WFTL and WMEN is they don't even show up in the ratings. Nobody listens to them. They brand themselves as Broward stations, but don't show up in the Miami Fort Lauderdale books, and they don't show up in the Palm Beach books. When you have a Christian CHR Way FM and Moody Bible's WRMB, and the Way FM webstream being you in the ratings, and you can't pull a number with the high priced talents of Joyce Kowfman and Rich "fake a story" Stevens, it may be time to turn over the license.
