Fybush:WMEX 1510...Howie

http://www.fybush.com/nerw-extra-20141113/

>>Carr..'s going to be even more miserable after dark on WUFC (1510), which is expected to announce today that it’s picking up Carr’s new syndicated show ...back at the end of October, it quietly applied to change calls to WMEX, a heritage callsign it could start using as early as today.

(can't resist)
Do you disagree (I think he's terrible) or do you agree (yes he's wonderful)
Well whatever you do feel free to let us know
Just call us WMEX...the Howie Carr Show!

hi Al! Yeah who knows but Moe's long retired--Bluto was on WTAG but not sure if he still is.

People can check out WUFC (WMEX)'s signal ranges at radio-locator.com but as usual don't expect them to be totally accurate. The signal range is shrunk
after dark but he has WCRN, WXTK, online, etc. It won't be the same range RKO has.
(Coming back from NH on Rt 16 the other day I could pick up RKO, CRN and even a bit of UFC after dark...but again, no miracles...)

Peter Blute has been a regular fill-in host at WTAG, no full-time show. IMHO, he would love to get back into a full-time radio gig.

He is going to be on a number of stations besides WMEX.

They must be using the WMEX calls now. There is a tease in today's Boston Herald for "guess who's coming" to WMEX 1510 AM Boston "Where Liberty has a Voice".

Yes--I put my Herald into my car (...pun?) just now but a pic of the ad showed up on Twitter. Someone actually said they thought it could
be Severin as it looked like a pic of his profile, though.
Just now on 1510:
(Great and powerful) Tom Shattuck: We have an announcement coming Monday here on WMEX, er, WFCC, er, WUFC

So if Tom Shattuck is hinting at the Monday announcement, it would look like he will be on afternoon drive on Herald Radio simulcasting on WMEX as his Boston terrestrial radio home.

So did I just now but note his blooper--mention of "WFCC" (actually classical on the Cape, right?) means that in his mind he may be thinking
"the FCC approved the change"

1510wmex.com had a GoDaddy parked page, Now it is just plain white, no text or pix

Howie on AM?

I thought Howie's big beef was against AM radio, as well as Entercom, and now that's where he still ends up? on the AM band?

Yes, he hated AM radio...hated the signal issue....wanted to work for a "real company" and a "real station"..

I was always told...don't say it can't get any worse....because it always does!

Now he has a worse signal, more AM radio, not on live, LMA'd station....with a company that doesn't have a great track record for doing anything competitively.

When he tried to jump, Bush 43 was in
office. '07..and back then he could jump
to FM talk with WTKK. Before he was
forced to stay, I heard Severin and
Graham on a crossover talking about
a future co-worker.."can we say, drive
my Carr?"

Things are different now. A friend in
Pittsburgh asked me on facebook
why WPGB 104.7 was suddenly running
country instead of conserv talk. I told him what
was then Clear Channel wanted to make money
so Big 104.7 was launched and fans of
Rush and Sean had to settle for a 7 kW
AM station..He got his wish, got off RKO
but now no FM talk here, save the likes
of Jim and Margery on 89.7.

..not on live? We're talking delayed broadcast
on 1510?...

Well, one thing Howie and his crew learned from last time was to keep their mouths shut until the contract is done and complete! And people are not talking (on the record) besides WRKO's announcement.) His current contract ends tonight at midnight?

RE: 1510AM I am hearing he might be on in the evening. Maybe a live 6PM hour...and then 3 hours tape delayed.

I could give a rat's butt...about Howie Carr...but I am glad to see those call letters returning to 1510...for the first time since 1978...when it became WITS...They never belonged on 106.5....1060....1150 or anywhere else...

Howie on twitter indeed hinting at a countdown to midnight (at stately Carr Manor --Batman reference)
OK so they may be forced to carry Sean live? Howie 6p live hr then time-delayed..so what of JT?

Howie tweet 4 hrs ago
>>5 hours 20 minutes 'til the doors swing open at the Big House!
