Journey 93-3 goes all Christmas

Started this morning. They are ahead of Lite 96.9 who is the traditional all Christmas station for Huntsville. This is not the first time they have done all Christmas but previously they did not have much impact on Lite 96.9's all Christmas audience. Beating them to the punch this year may help, but doubtful as their ratings continue to be abysmal. I wondered if they would do all Christmas this year leading into a format change. I guess we'll see, but they have not dropped the "Journey" name so who knows. Surely they're going to have to make a change sooner or later. The "Journey" format has never gained any ground in the few years it has been on.

Yep. Christmas was just a stunt. I had a feeling they might try the Nash Icon format on 93.3. This will be the 4th time country has been on the frequency. The 3rd time since Cumulus took it over. I can't help but fear that the listeners will remember all the previous failed attempts and not even give it a chance but this time will be different since Nash Icon is older country so we'll see. I still think moving WVNN to 93.3 would have been a better move but I wish them luck.

haha yup, i was sitting at work that day you tweeted me about lite 99, and i didn't catch it at first and thought it was WZRR tweeting me that they were flipping formats again, lol

No...I don't believe that 99.5 is/will be returning to soft AC, but it wouldn't surprise me if WZRR "spins the format wheel" again within a couple year's time.

Cumulus seems to have a play thing in a lot of markets, like they just throw things on them and see what sticks. 93.3 has been ours for years, 100.7 for Pensacola / Mobile, Nashville was 97.1 until it was sold to EMF, and 99.5 could become the one for Birmingham.
