Tom Doyle OUT at WROR

Well, on the one hand, I'm surprised. On the other hand, I'm not. Quite honestly, he really doesn't contribute much to the show anymore unless you count the terrible songs. During the times I listen, he's rarely on the air unless they have a guest in-studio or on the phone and then he might ask a few questions. Tom's also had a few health issues the last few years. Couldn't find anything online and couldn't even find any comments on WROR's FB page. It will be interesting to see if they replace him or not and also if they play any of his townie tunes or other stuff anymore. This might be the beginning of the end of the Loren & Wally Show.

I just went to wror.com; both the "Men From Maine" channel and Tom's Townie Tunes are still there.

Tom is quite far from being a non-contributor. If I didn't know better, I'd think someone here is spreading false information.

Maybe I'm just listening at the wrong times. But, you're right, the MFM and Townie Tunes sites are still there with his picture. Maybe MRBI jumped the gun and I fell for it. :D

I think you are both right. Tom was a key element of the L&W show...hoever, in the last year or so he has been moved to the margins more and more. So, "the times you listen he's hardly on the air" is true now.

I try not to disclose my sources as I have friends at almost every station in Boston, but when I asked a Greater Media employee ( note I am not disclosing what station to protect them) they said he was gone, as of this week, and they also expressed that he was great guy to work with.

So lets put to rest that I am just putting things out there without some basis in fact

The last tidbits about Howie I posted came straight from Mr and Mrs Carr..... I don't deal with rumor

WROR is such a lame radio station. There's no excitement, just one boring sweeper into another overplayed song. Boston deserves a better Classic Hits station in my opinion. I wish they atleast played those exciting jingles in between songs like WODS used to. WROR lost me as a listener a long time ago. 1063 in Southern NH is a way better station. I miss WODS. Atleast CBS knew how to run a good classic hits station....

Thanks for the confirmation Bob

I need to start reading that list more often I guess.

very disconcerting was the post from DLH around the same time....
Good thoughts in her direction

WFNQ is a good station except for the morning show...is stinks. I have friends there too, and I like every show on there EXCEPT for the morning show.... When they blew out Jim Fronk and moved Bethany Moore to mid days I started listening to "The Mill" out of Manchester in the morning when I could get it on my car radio.

I listen to Paula Street mid days on WRBQ via the internet, WAKY Loiusville/Radcliffe KY is another favorite, and also to the lovely and talented Bethany Moore mid days at WFNQ when I want classic hits.... WBOQ's gone way down hill now that most of their day is bird fed by C list talent from Dial Global... WROR catches my attention as I scan the dial

Well it better be someone other than Loren Owens who is the one focusing on more talk. Loren can't go through 2 or 3 words at a time before stumbling over his own words and adding a few thousand "Uhhhhhh"'s. I say they will definitely not be extended beyond their current contract and very possibly bought out of their current one in due time.

Wally is pushing 65, Loren can't be far behind or ahead, and that begs the question how long do they want to keep getting up in the middle of the night to schlep to Morrisey Boulevard every morning.

The whole morning show signed new contracts in March 2013, I don't know how long it was for though.

So Tom Doyle was under contract , not that did him a lot of good. Hopefully he was sent to the beach with a hefty check.

This whole trainwreck has GM's director of programming, you know, the "car guy", written all over it. Last I checked, WROR was no. 2 in the ratings, and I suspect it was due largely to The L&W Morning Show than any other day part. IMHO, GM made a mistake hiring that guy from CC; for all we know, he's probably still protecting PI$$ 108 from competition.

Yeah, you bet I'm angry!

Agree, agree, a thousand times agree! I've given them a very fair chance and find WROR very fatiguing to listen to. Is it the processing, a 300-400 song library, or a combination of both? However, they do pull decent numbers, so they ain't gonna fix it if it ain't broken.
.

Tom Doyle

WROR started going downhill when Sue Cope left. She was replaced by drama queen LBF who cannot read news, she giggles it.
All the comments I read from earlier posts regarding the staff are dead on. Tom is the only reason I listened. Not anymore.
